Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The property is extremely conveniently located, being at only a 3/4 minutes walking distance from Vatican City entrance gate. The Ottaviano metro stop is at a 5 minutes walking distance as well. The stay is located in a charming old Italian building and the elevator is original to the building, which means it opens after half a flight of stairs and has a small opening door. But it does the job and is really charming to those who enjoy history and architecture. The access to the property is keyless and convenient. The staff is helpful and kind. The place is clean and comfortable. The breakfast is at Tre cafe which is a great cafe round the corner in the same building. The breakfast included was smaller than what we are used to, but delicious, and we could order more. Overall we loved the stay and it was worth the money compared to Roman rates.

SwedenThe metro station closest to the hotel, Ottaviano, is closed for renovations due to the 2025 Jubilee in Rome. So you should expect a long and confusing walk to the hotel. Public transport in Rome is not to be trusted. If a bus is supposed to arrive at 10:30, you should expect it to arrive no earlier than 11:00. Taxis are the easiest way to go if there is no traffic, in any other case you should avoid them because they will try to scam you and the traffic will slow you down to a standstill. So in our situation the metro, which was a 15 minute walk away, was the "easiest choice". While the beds were comfortable, there was no real duvet, just a thin blanket. That was a bit disappointing because I like putting the AC up high and then get under a comfy duvet. I have an issue with the digital system when it comes to opening the doors. If you don't have data or Wi-Fi, you cannot enter the hotel. It is located in a regular residental area, so you'll need to open the entrance to the building, then to the lobby and lastly to your room. Silvia will give you a key with which you can open the door to your room, which is great, but for the other two doors you need data. Nothing of issue for us, but I saw three different couples trying to get in to the hotel without succeeding, so we had to help them out. Also, you are going to have bad reception inside the building, so connect to the hotel Wi-Fi as soon as you are standing outside the "Rest Guesthouse" door. I hope Silvia can change this digital system to one with keys because it would help a lot of people from outside the EU.
The hotel was great, it was located right next to the Vatican which made it easily accessible by walking. There are several restaurants, cafes and bars right next to hotel in case you feel like staying in the area for a day. The room is reasonably sized, and the bathroom is very nice and clean. The beds are very comfortable. The room is fully painted white, which gives it a clean feeling — something we appreciated a lot. The minibar comes filled the first time, with water and different soft drinks, but after that you need to pay 6 € for each day that you want it refilled — very reasonable price for the amount of drinks you get, but not of interest for us this time, since we were out most of the time. There is a Carrefour right next to the hotel too, in case you want to shop some groceries — but it is quite expensive. I'm not sure whether that is due to its location so close to the Vatican, or whether these are the actual prices Italians pay for groceries. The street the hotel is located on is pretty quiet, which is crazy since the street just around the hotel is so loud. Silvia, who is the owner of the hotel, was the highlight of our stay. Very accommodating, very nice, and she dresses very nicely too — like walking into a fashion show every morning. Keep it going, Silvia! The breakfast was amazing. I highly recommend everyone to get the continental breakfast, it costs 7 € extra but it's definitely worth it. The Italian breakfast is just too small. One thing I loved about the hotel was the common area, where you check in, because you can sit there with a cup of tea and for example discuss business (this was true for us) or plan what sight to visit next. It's basically a small kitchen, so you could cook there if you wanted too — nothing that we did ourselves though.

GermanyNot sure where the moisture came from, but it was damp in the room in the morning. Nothing was damaged, but it was odd. A tiny issue is that only half of the front door to the apartment opens. So it is a tight squeeze with luggage.
Location is great! Very close to Metro and Vatican. Plenty of restaurants and next to a Carrefour Express grocery store. Very clean and surprisingly quiet considering the busy streets outside. We really appreciated the shared kitchen and coffee bar.
