A few things were broken such as the shower head and the electric gate and the bed was very hard - if the mattress had been comfortable I would’ve loved the experience more.

Great location in the lovely village of Marano Marchesato. The surroundings were gorgeous and the treehouses a unique experience.

    Nothing could be better

If I could score this 11 I would give it 12. Quite stupendous palazzo in Marano Marchesato, near Cosenza. In the family of Francesco and Achille for 400 years. Has its own parco, with pool and four treehouses, where I was free to spend the morning of my departure writing under the shade of olive trees. The hospitable and fascinating Francesco welcomed me with coffee and a tour of the house and grounds and local recommendations. Achille prepared a superb breakfast. The room was huge and very comfortable and the peace and tranquillity are soothing. There is a terrific restaurant Macrito down the hill (a steep climb back after pinsa!). Use Google to find it as my satnav did not recognise the Via Leoncavallo address. This is a paradise worth going out of your way for, as Marano is not an obvious destination. I am hearing that they may set up a Calabrian cookery school in conjunction with the restaurant. I am so glad I found this, but my biggest regret is that I did not get there earlier to enjoy the (two!) pools and the parco more and that I could not stay longer on my tour. I will return one day for a much longer stay.

The shower was a bit small - but this was a very minor observation when one considers all other aspects of the lovely grounds, the proprietors’ hospitality of the owners AND the ability to disconnect for several days!

Every day - my breakfast exceeded my expectations: locally sourced homemade breakfast pastry, jams and honey! On my first day, I requested a hard boiled egg and fruit for breakfast - every day, thereafter, egg and fruit. The warmth and hospitality of proprietors, Francesco and Achille, were exceptional!

The owner Francesco was extremely welcoming and friendly. The main building is a nicely restored manor with beautiful wood and stonework. We enjoyed the tour of the grounds, we could eat fruit right off of the trees. The property had a playground and pools for our son. The breakfast was wonderful each morning and all of the staff who we met were extremely friendly and accommodating. The cleaning woman even offered to do our laundry for us, which was a life saver during our two week trip through Italy. We will stay here again next time we're in the area.

A very beautiful palazzo with a wonderful garden. We received a very friendly welcome, and we were greeted with a cappuccino. The breakfast left nothing to be desired.

The place needs some repairs and renovations. The mattress is too soft. We had a leak in the bathroom, also they need to change the shower handle.

The ambient, the staff. Francesco is a wonderful host, always ready to help. The breakfast is exceptional.

the location was somehow inconvenient, especially for people having road trips

The breakfast was good. The owner of the place is a kind, friendly person, always ready to help us with whatever we need. He also suggested small treasures around the area. He sent us to really nice places, without his input we will never discover the beauty of Calabria.
