Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

United StatesNo hot water when we arrived, had to wait until next day. No way to speak with a person, had to use an app that was difficult. Dishes in kitchen were greasy and obviously not cleaned with soap. Bathroom shower is extremely small and filthy, black and orange mold everywhere. Double bed was extremely broken down, and extremely uncomfortable. Pigeon poop on the window sills was disgusting and should have been removed. Shutters didn't operate properly and some window latches were damaged and couldn't be secured. Trash room looked like it wasn't cleared during our 2 week stay, it was totally stuffed when we left. We also had no view and no sitting area, both of which we expected from the way booking.com advertised the property and price, but the hosts said they weren't aware of this. The unit had two bedrooms and a kitchen with 4 very uncomfortable chairs for seating, so it was impossible to relax without laying on a bed. Frankly, there were much nicer properties close to this one for less or same money. We would not stay there again, nor would we recommend this property to anyone.
The location was the only thing we liked.

ItalyThe apartment was dated and tacky to say the least. Semi cleanly but boarder line gross in some aspects. The shower head was moldy and the utensils were cheap and gross. To get the key you have to go to a separate hotel in a town twenty minutes south which I wasn't told until I asked the morning we are arriving. The place we paid for was the same price as our friends but almost half the size with no view which was frustrating, but every place I've booked in this country through this website has used the deceptive tactic of using the same pictures for all the rooms you can select from on the booking.com page and then when you get to your room the pictures don't match reality. This place was no exception so I guess it's just an Italy thing...
