Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe bed was hard. No wash cloth or hand towel or hand soap. They sold a breakfast coupon, which was more than the price charged by the restaurant. Workers started repairing furnaces or something outside my room in the morning and with no warning. My daughter was jet lagged and still asleep. Someone opened my room door without knocking while I was in the room at around 9 am. I am not sure if it was housekeeping because they normally come in after check out.
Close to the Vatican. Easy to find. Female staff were friendly. Quiet in the night. Sufficient for a short stay.

United KingdomWell, unfortunately we were unable to get anything to eat or drink as the hotel restaurant was undergoing refurbishment. We were not informed of this at the time of booking OR when we checked in. I am disabled, unable to walk far so telling me that there are bars nearby is not the solution! I would have come prepared had I known and this would have improved my stay a great deal. There is a fridge in the room which is great but a bit pointless for if one wants a hot drink. Or giving me a kettle with no cups, coffee etc., couldn't care less attitude on enquiring about facilities. I would have come prepared had I known and this would have improved my stay a great deal. The restaurant next door the hotel use, doesn't open until 10 a.m at the earliest so left gasping for 4 mornings. I asked about nearby shops to purchase the essentials, shrug of shoulders and pointed to the bar next door, which was closed :/.
The position of the hotel is fab, very close to a lot of the sights, especially Vatican City. Beds comfy, bathroom is clean and modern. Room was a bit chilly at night and only one small thin blanket found in the wardrobe but just cuddle up to your partner. Housekeeping was great, friendly ladies, maybe a bit tight on the issuing of toilet rolls!!! They knock at about 10 a.m to give you time to get sorted and never rush you out of your room which is great. Clean rooms and overall areas, maybe a bit tired looking but hey, it's Rome, everything is old lol. Reception on the whole were friendly and attentive during the day - night time, not so great in my experience. I would stay again with my husband if the room facilities are improved or we know beforehand that there will be no tea/coffee making facilities either in the room or the restaurant then I'll invest in a travel kettle etc., I'd give the Orange Hotel 7/10 purely for the lack of amenities.

GermanyThe air conditioning in our room didn’t work. We mentioned it to two different employees. One said they would come take a look and never did. The other tried to reset it and it still didn’t work. Our room wasn’t cleaned well before we got there. There was an open liquid soap of some kind all over the counter and the toilet was dirty.
Good location.

CanadaOur room was disgusting. This is NOT a 4 star hotel! We immediately went to front desk and asked for a better room but he said this was not possible as they were full. We said we did not want to stay there. He had no solution, and even told her we had a ‘luxury’ room! The bathroom’s shower had mold, hair left on the walls, the stall covered with some orange plastic that was peeling.. we asked for blanket ( there were only bedsheets on the bed) and he brought ont while we went for supper. We searched for another place to move to and found something for the following day ( we had pre-paid for three nights). It was dark and we stayed the first night . When we woke up, we saw everything in daylight : the blanket he brought us had brown stains! The shower full of mold, the AC leaking on the floor , the weird walls covered with a grey cloth, the overall state of the room that needed a major over-haul. And the restaurant was closed- so no breakfast included. We went downstairs and told the front desk man we were leaving and asking for a refund. He spoke to his boss and offered an upgrade , as now it was suddenly available . We said it was too late, he should have told last night! And oh! They were going To give us breakfast at a next door restaurant if we stayed, but not if we left, but they still refused to reimburse us. I showed him all the pictures we took in the room: he didn’t seem to think the state of the room was wrong! He said his boss would get back to me later that day, but he never did. I wrote to this complaint department again next day, and the response was still the same: no refund, except for the city tax if I followed some process ( which I’m still waiting for).
Nothing ! Except The location is not too bad.
