Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalThe bed was very uncomfortable (the mattress was super soft and bended in a U shape) and there was a pungent smell throughout the entire property.
Location was convenient, close to the train station and walking distance from city center. One of the cheapest options available.

LuxembourgAsking for additional funds to have air-conditioning. (20euro/day). When it was raining. Water came through the ventilation system in the bathroom. The bathroom stank when the ventilation was turned on.
Private room with bathroom very spacious. Nice host. No problems with check-in or out. Location close to the train station.

NetherlandsThe WiFi on the second floor (where our room was) did not have a good connection. I had to sit in the 1st floor common area to have meetings and calls, which at that time, construction was happening right behind the hostel.
The location is within walking distance from Florence central station so it is very strategic. The cleanliness of the room and private bathroom met our expectations. The host, Vincenzo, was really nice to us even though we checked in at a pretty late hour. He also allowed us to store our bags after we checked out without asking for more money, Overall, compared to other properties in Florence that are really pricy, this hostel offered a pleasant stay without making your wallet cry.

IrelandThe only thing I would like to tell other travellers is that it costs an extra €20 per night for AC and an extra €6 to use the washing machine
The staff were so lovely at this hostel, it was quite clean, the beds were very comfy and the facilities were great! It is around a 10min walk to the train station and it is very easy to walk into the main town :)

NetherlandsThere wasn't a bathroom floormat. Also with how the showerhead was placed, it was easy that the bathroom could overflow. The hostel warned for it, but still. The bed was a little sagged.
The check-in and check-out went smooth. Vincenzo is friendly. The hostel and the room is decorated, tidy and clean. Every day the rooms got cleaned and you can request if not neccessary. There was nice big towels and 2 sachets of shampoo. Locationwise the centre and the trainstation is around 10 minutes walking. The area is quiet. We liked our stay.

FranceA bit pricey if you consider is a hostel so you don’t get towels or breakfast or a kitchen to use. At night, old men would gather to drink and talk loudly. A bit creepy if you ask me. Also we were woken up one day by two people arguing loudly about working conditions (since reception is outdoors you could hear everything) Not precisely what you expect of a “young” hostel.
Very clean room, well located (10min walk from Firenze Santa Maria Novella train station). The owner and his wife are easy going, friendly and helpful. The place is old but charming and the rooms were not bad at all.

United KingdomThe room and bathroom a bit run down and needs updating. The check in process seemed a bit causal, perhaps bringing it inside would make it seem more professional. Also an addition of safes in the room would be great.
The bed was very comfortable. Nice windows and great black out shutters.

ItalyThe host is mining cryptocurrency in the reception with a very noisy server active 24h, and you can hear the noise from the room. The area is full of mosquitos and there are no mosquito nets on the window so no possibility to open it. No A/C is there, so in summer the room becomes literally an oven. Far from the city center

PhilippinesTHIS PLACE IS OVERPRICE. NOT THE SAME AS ADVERTISED IN BOOKING COM WEBSITE. We paid €160 for the old, ugly and dirty bedroom and bathroom. The room is not ventilated. The color of the light is somewhat orange or yellow which made the room a bit dark. NO AIRCON. ONLY 1 DESK FAN IS PROVIDED TO THINK THAT WE ARE 4 PERSONS AND THE BED IS DOUBLE DECK SO SOME OF US ARE NOT REACHED BY THE AIR FROM ELECTRIC FAN. No shampoo and body soap provided. The tissue paper seems old and smells like from century ago! The bathroom sink is a bit clogged. We do not feel safe to this place because our room is outside the building and our big window with grills is facing the road. Hence, someone from the outside can peek and see the inside of your room any moment. Even though the room is very hot since there is no aircon and we only have 1 small fan, we still closed the window for our safety. The door of our room is very old too! You will not feel safe in this place. There are no commercial establishments nearby where you can buy your necessities like personal use and food. However, the Santa Maria Novella train station is around 600 meters away. NO 24-HR RECEPTION. WE CHECKED-OUT AT AROUND 6:30 AM BECAUSE WE CAN NO LONGER TOLERATE THIS UGLY PLACE AND WE NEED TO CATCH THE TRAIN GOING TO VENICE AT 7:00 AM. THE STAFF IS SLEEPING SO WE LEFT THE KEY IN THE MAILBOX WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. NOT WORTH OF YOUR MONEY.
