Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomSee above.
This is a beautifully situated property with a lovely garden and stunning views and it could be almost perfect. But there are some annoying, small but significant problems which it needs to fix. For example, the parasol umbrellas around the pool are made of a strange, porous, crochet-type material that means they don’t offer much protection from the very strong Puglian sun. The smaller rooms, such as those called “pool view” where we spent the first three of four nights do not match up to the five star quality and size you’d expect from the five star prices. (After we complained about this, we spent a last night in the much bigger tower room, which was lovely.) On the other hand, the staff are capable and pleasant, the food is decent and there are some enjoyable extras - pottery and pasta making tuition included in the price, and one evening we were there, an excellent live band playing pizzica, the traditional Salento music. The Ola e needs its management to pay more attention to these details.

United KingdomThe garden view rooms with private terrace were very good. In fact all the buildings & terraces were picturesque & well kept. The food, especially the evening meal was excellent. Pretty gardens & nice swimming pool. It’s only a 10 minute walk to the sea, which you can see from the property. It was very quiet & relaxing.

United KingdomCAR HIRE IS A MUST! Without a car, it’s an hour walk to restaurants etc. And don’t come off season, we came last week of May & struggled to find anywhere open. you are very much left to your own devices during the day, the only food available all day is an appetiser which is a few small dishes of nibbles. Breakfast is basic & dinner is overpriced. You won’t find ‘classic’ Italian dishes like pizza and pasta on the menu. It says close to the beach but in reality it’s close to a rocky coastline where it’s dangerous to enter the sea. Sandy beaches are at least a 15 min drive north or south of the coastline.
Beautiful, relaxing & clean hotel, friendly staff also. Thank you to Barbara who helped us organise a hire car a few days into our stay, which was difficult bc of the time of year. Gallipoli is the closest town, beautiful and tons of restaurants/ bars/ shops etc 24 min drive away. Otranto is also gorgeous - 1 hour drive. Special shoutout to Serena (usually wears red) she was a helpful, sweet and caring member of staff who went above and beyond to ensuring we felt happy and comfortable :) We would recommend this hotel for couples who want a quiet & romantic getaway.

We really enjoyed staying at Masseria Samenti, the place is lovely, the main area is well curated, the swimming pool is something very special and the rooms are big and nice. There was also a little garden in front of our room, where the kinder could also play a bit. Barbara, the owner, was really nice with us, as we went a bit outside of the high season, she suggested where we could find some nice open restaurants and she was also nice with the kids, giving them a little ball to play, which they could keep it as a present. Breakfast was also very good, as were outside of high season, we were served at the table (I guess during high season there is a buffet, but I am not sure) and it was all very fresh (fruit, croissants, bread, jams, pan cakes, ham, cheese, coffee, tee, etc..). It's also very close to the see, we just walked there a couple of time, as the weather was not allowing to swim (but we could not resist to use the swimming pool..:). All good, really nice place

United KingdomLovely property with a beautiful swimming pool and garden. Barbara was very helpful and gave us a lovely packed breakfast when we had to leave early. The property is far from Gallipoli and in a secluded spot.It is important you visit during full tourist season otherwise all the surrounding towns are closed.

United KingdomThere is no additional snacks/ food apart from breakfast and dinner. So be prepared to bring something of your own to eat between 10am and 7pm. It is about a 20 min walk to the nearest shop/restaurant for lunch, also something to consider if you have no car.
Property was beautiful and the restaurant was lovely, we had two very nice meals in the evening for good value. Very comfortable and cosy room
