Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomVery small shower. Bed slightly uncomfortable.
The hotel is opposite the train station, two minutes away down a couple of flights of steps. The single budget room was small and old fashioned but it was very clean and suitable as I wasn't in the room much. The shower was very small tucked in a corner in the bathroom, it may have proved difficult to access for some. The bed was a bit soft for me but I managed to sleep alright. The staff were exceptional, extremely friendly and helpful.

TaiwanThe Wi-Fi is a bit slow. I haven't experienced such a slow speed in a long time.
The hotel is right in front of the station, which is very convenient for travelers with big luggage. The hotel's facilities and room are of average standard, and for its price, it's a bit expensive. But in the Cinque Terre attractions, it's already reasonable. I think the biggest advantage is that when I visited Cinque Terre, when I feel tired, I can quickly go back to the hotel to rest, and then set off to the next village after resting. Of course, this is if you buy a day ticket, and you can take the train without restrictions.

AustraliaDecor a bit outdated. Would have liked more instructions regarding the parking. Area/streets where the hotel is located is a little dirty. Probably a bit overpriced considering the facilites.
Location right next to train station and a short walk to main town. Parking is free on the street on Sunday. Was given a parking permit as I had previously requested. But no clear directions as to the location to park other than "close by on the street in the blue lines". There was a sign just around the corner from the hotel that said it was reserved for the hotel, but there was never a free space. Very clean and comfortable. Nice staff.

The breakfast was superb, better than in hotels with many hotels that we visited of more stars rating. Especially we ware surprise the fine variety of handmade cakes. Hotels offering exactly what we needed, great location across railway station, free parking for the car, all we need for stay in the room.

CanadaI have to say that the bed matress have seen better days.
This is a surprising hotel. It may not look that much at first glance but don't be deceived. Some say the rooms are old, yes. But they are well kept. The staff is amazing and it looks like a family business. It gives you a feeling of being home that we rarely feel in hotels. The location cannot be better to visit La Spezia and the Cinque Terre. Just 1 min. from the train and the main streets. We were there 4 days and we already miss it.

United StatesThe property is due for a complete renovation/upgrade. The rooms were ok, beds not very comfortable. In the bathroom they had plenty of towels and toiletries, but the shower had no soap holders or anything that you can put your stuff.
The hotel is literally across the train station, very convenient if you’re vacationing by train.

Singaporei woke up to the smell of cigarettes and also the lift to the train station wasnt working for the days we were there so we had to carry our luggages up and down a flight of stairs to get to the station. if not, we will have to drag our luggages up and down a slope which will add 5-10mins more to our walk to the train station. other than these small things to note, hotel mary has been a really nice place to rest at the end of the day. Just to note, the hotel has a lift, but before the lift there will be about 3 steps to carry your luggage up.
Staff were super welcoming and nice, gave us free breakfast, and when we didn't want to get some breakfast they offered us free water. I stayed in the 1 room, while my 3 other friends shared a triple room, its really good and convenient to stay super near the train station for our day trips to cinque terre.

New ZealandThis is a basic hotel with older facilities.
We had an unexpected detour en route to Cinque Terre due to a train strike and had to fid somewhere at short notice to sleep with a late night arrival. Staff were most helpful and the Hotel is just accross the road from the train station and taxi rank. For our purposes this worked out well.

United StatesRoom is a bit small, but just fine. Would be nice if breakfast was included, but additional 8E/person (probably would pay 5E/person).
Location was super convenient to train station, across the street, and close to restaurants, walking distance, for dinner. Beds were comfortable, clean, and AC worked great. We arrived early and they held our bags so we could tour. Parking was available and convenient just around the corner, easy walk.
