Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomTo have a good restaurant on the roof would be superb.
The location could not be better on the lagoon front. The hotel is a little faded, but the location and delightful staff make for a very 'homely' stay. The hotel does not have a restaurant despite the view of one on the website. Breakfast is served on the roof top which obviously was the restaurant previously, lovely views over the lagoon and towards the Grand canal. Plenty of croissants, pastries and an option of cooked eggs etc is available. Coffee is good. Our room was spotless, good bathroom and great view.

United KingdomWhile the hotel is conveniently placed for St Marks Square, unfortunately outside the hotel there are many tourists in large groups and a lot of street vendors trying to sell souvenirs. Our bedroom and bathroom were cramped and the shower cabinet was not user-friendly. Boat traffic on the canal outside our window was noisy. At over 400 euros per night, it is not good value for money.
A copious breakfast in a rooftop restaurant with good views. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful.

IrelandWeather was poor so I was cold in the room on the first night… this was remedied once reported .Bar on third floor was disappointing… it was a type of conservatory..and appeared to be leaking water. It was quirky and did not spoil the experience

United KingdomIt was cold when we were there due to heavy rain but there was no heating in the room. So after getting wet no warmth. Extra blankets and kind staff but surely just turn on heating and off again if it warms up. Lounge could use a make over to be more inviting and comfortable. It should be a pleasant place to have a hit drink or cocktail when it’s wet as obviously the terrace not possible.
Location excellent Enjoyed arriving and departing the hotel by boat Staff attentive

PhilippinesA few things not working, such as the main lift, the bar terrace closed. Wifi was a little patchy. Only big grumble was no complimentary drinking water in the room. But nothing major. It was rather expensive, a five star price in any other city - paying for location no doubt.
The locanda has a spectacular location facing San Giorgio Maggiore and the entrance to the Grand Canal next door to the Vivaldi church of the Pieta. I was given possibly the best room in the place, a corner room looking out onto the whole lagoon vista. The interior is in a plush classic style, typically Venetian. The room itself was beautifully decorated in a sort of Baroque style and had electric blinds for privacy. The bathroom was beautiful too. Breakfast was very simple in a cramped room down below. There is a bar terrace but that was closed for renovation of some kind. Staff were young and helpful throughout. Loved the Vivaldi themed soaps in the bathroom.

United Arab EmiratesNormally hotels keep a complimentary bottle of water in the rooms which were not kept & a hot kettle to make tea/coffee would be much appreciated. Also, the hotel didn’t have a kitchen so no room service was available.
The view ofcourse. It was phenomenal to wake up to the wonderful views of the canal. This is the biggest plus point of the property.

United KingdomFantastic location, close to Piazza San Marco, but not too close, lovely big rooms, good bathrooms, little balcony overlooking canal, with side views of lagoon. Easy strolls to San Marco, Rialto, L'Accademia etc, loads of restaurants, shops, churchs, sites etc. Staff very friendly and helpful, recommended a great restaurant, got a water taxi straight to/from the steps of the hotel.

MaltaLocation is just perfect, just across the ferry to take you to the other islands. St Mark square is pretty much close aswell. It's easy to get lost around the labyrinth style of little alleys around Venice, which that's what makes it special. So having your hotel close to St Mark square is a bonus, cause all streets lead to it.
