Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe kitchen is quite basic for a longer stay. We were able to make coffee in the morning, but not much else. Only one pillow provided, so we bought two more in town. There is a smell of prawns as the local men peel them below the windows in the morning. The outdoor furniture is tired and we carried chairs up to the roof terrace as there is nothing up there - but leaving furniture up there would be a problem with the birds I think.
A superb location and what a wonderful atmospheric apartment - attached to a beautiful church right on the harbour, with layers of faded paint work on the walls and a sense of time gone by. The views from the roof terrace were incredible. Easy parking, very close to the old town and a 10 minute walk to the town beach. Yes, the church bells ring at 7am and 7pm, the first time it happened we jumped as the apartment reverberated! But after that we loved it - it may wake you up, but smile, you are on holiday and can roll over and go back to sleep! Also you can sometimes hear the sounds of the fisherman and road cleaners, but again that it part of being in such an amazing location. Franco was super helpful when he met us and we had no problems at all. Amazing water pressure and a lovely shower area off the bedroom where you can shower while looking out to sea (and no-one can see you) :) We spent 5 nights here and feel it was really good value.

The location is perfect 👌 From the windows it is just like a painting 🖼️. This property is a part of an old church. We booked the room (studio with sea view). It had a large balcony. The view from the balcony was very beautiful 🤩. And of course our host Franco was very friendly. He even let us to do early check-in.

AustraliaNaturally being 150 year old stone building some things like the electric hot plate could do with an upgrade but it worked perfectly bathroom facilities excellent with plenty of hot water and pressure! TV small but practical!
A property that evokes so much emotion tucked in behind a gorgeous church where weddings often take place! Century old full of character ! Workable area inside very cosy but the massive terrace more than made up for that ! 100 metres to bridge which takes you to the old city parking right under our node on the wharf ! Loved watching the fishing boats bringing in the in catch !

AustriaThere was nothing to dislike. The apartment is connected to a church, so you hear the bells a couple of times in the morning (first time at 7am , I think) and you also hear the fishermen around the apartment early morning, doing fisherman stuff. If you are looking for peace and quiet, it may not be the place for you. But if you like a bit of hustle and bustle and want to watch some everyday life in Gallipoli passing by, then you'll love it.
The location is incredible. Located next to the harbour, we stayed in the room with the rooftop terrace, and it was fantastic to be able to look out over the bay and the town. A couple of photos from the rooftop attached. A few minutes walk into the old town in the evening and maybe 15mins walk to the local beach. The apartment is tastefully decorated, but in a rustical style. No luxury, but good basic facilities. You don't need anything more in Gallipoli. The air-conditioning was efficient, and the bathroom etc was clean. There is free parking on the streets around the apartment. Franco was a great host and very friendly. He has very limited English, but with a bit of Italian and some smartphone translations we got through just fine. He is also a local DJ with some cool Italian lounge sounds.

AustraliaPull out couch, dirty kitchen, balcony couldn’t be used as it was also a local hangout for the seagulls
Amazing location, right on the waterfront and parking was super easy. Check in was also good however the room was a bit dirty and we were sleeping on a pull out couch despite being advertised a bed.

South AfricaIt was located in a noisy port area with a number of unfinished buildings nearby. It was also adjacent to a church so we had the bell ringing to contend with in the early morning The host's communication could be improved
Apartment was spacious and had a nice view of the harbour/port

United KingdomThis place is superb - if you are reading this wondering whether to stay here do yourself a favour and book now! The views are superb; you can see the fishermen at work from the window and also have a great view of the old town from the huge roof terrace. The building is next to / part of an old church; when visiting the castle or the museum you can see it in paintings / maps from 100s of years ago! Franco was very prompt and very helpful. I We must have stayed in 100s of places in Italy over the years and this was out favourite! It really was the cherry on the top of our lovely stay in Gallipoli and the Salento.
