Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceMy only serious issue was the difficulty I faced in reaching the hotel (only accessible by foot). My advice is that if you want to reserve a room at this hotel and you are a foreigner, be sure that you have a good sense of location awareness (very narrow repetitive streets), a valid SIM card and precise GPS on your phone.
I will give 10/10 for the cleanliness of the room, the size of the room, the elegance of the room, and the quality of the furniture.

What a beautiful property! Rooms are spacious, bright and airy with lovely views across town from the many huge windows. Chiara, the host, was very welcoming and friendly and allowed an earlier check-in than stated on the booking. Extremely well located, in walking distance to all attractions, shops and cafes and the port. Rooms were spotlessly clean, well appointed and comfortable. The traditional decor made me feel like I was a local in proper Italy. Would highly recommend!

United KingdomThere is nothing to dislike - The place is a little gem. If you find something wrong, then you must be one of life's serial complainers!
Le Cocole was a wonderful place to stay - the location is perfect and the room was beautifully furnished and styled and of extremely high cleaniless and very good value for money. It is wonderful to stay in such an historic building with many features that arent enjoyed as a tourist- I couldnt have wished for more. The owners are kind, knowledgeable and attentive and generally lovely people

GermanyThe mattresses were not very comfortable and really should be replaced with better and longer ones. Small improvements would make the stay more comfortable, like fixing the noisy room / bathroom doors. Some additional furniture like some comfy chairs or low tables would improve the apartment too, there's enough space. The utensils we used in the common room were cleared away but not replaced so we ran out of cups on day 2, and there was no kitchen for us to wash them ourselves.
A beautiful 2-room apartment high up in an old building with fabulous views of the cathedral and skyline, with a calm square with a church, cafe and bar below. This is an old building in a medieval port city, so ignore people complaining about the lovely old elevator, street noise, the city's red light industry - that is all part of the old Genoa package. Chiara was there to welcome us and show us the Byzantine procedure to get into the apartment. Our Venetian room had ceiling paintings, mosaic floors, effective a/c, slightly sparse furnishings and a small bathroom seemingly hacked out of the wall. The reception area has a common space with tea/coffee, fridge and some utensils for self-catering from the many wonderful focaccia bakeries nearby. On Piazza Campetto nearby there's a Spar supermarket, and a free electric taxi service looping around the old town every half hour. The San Giorgio metro station with quick connections to the train stations and port is nearby, and currently the metro is even free to use outside rush hours.

UkraineGenoa's old town is a labyrinth to wander through (was fun for me, my wife found it disconcerting), and being a port city, there are, to say politely, a lot of poorer types loitering in the alleys. As someone who has lived in big cities, this was not an issue, but do keep on your toes. Being located in one of the most densely populated cities in the world, be prepared for the noises of the night. My only real problem is, the small fridge the host provides beverages in saw the other guests take the gourmet gas waters we bought instead of the house water provided, even though we had put a note on the bottles not to take them, and they used our cream to make their coffees, which I'm sure was just an honest mistake.
The space is wonderful to stay in, full of beautiful old-world charm! Located next to a church that is around 1000 years old, the building and piazza were simply wonderful. The huge bathtub was also very nice. The bed, an antique brass frame affair, was very comfortable. And all at a very reasonable price!

ArmeniaThe beds were a bit small.
Very aithentic apartments in the very heart of the old city, in historic building. The apt. is on the 5th floor but there is an elevator (quite a snall one, takes only 4 people, but if you have luggage and teavel with company it may cost you some effort to get all stuff to the apt. You'll need to make several trips). The host is very nice and responds fast to messages.
