Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesI would have liked to interacted with the staff more! The kitchen staff was super nice and wanting to interact but the management was a bit more cold. Overall, a great location, property, room and breakfast!

ItalyA few more days would have been welcome, but that was an issue on my side. About my stay I just appreciated everything.
Perfect location in old town of Monterosso, great breakfast and homemade food. The room was just perfect, with a nice terrace where we have spent some very nice time. Staff very helpful. Very well renewed, clean. I plan to come back again and I strongly suggest this hotel.

Hotel La Colonnia was a wonderful stay in the old town of Monterosso. I would fully recommend it to anyone. It is a perfect location in Cinque Terre with lovely rooms including small balconies with a view of the town. I love the staff and their service as well as the rooms being spacious and clean.

IsraelA few things which could highly improve the stay: Additional pillows, complimentary water in the room, and tissues. A single double mattress would have been a lot comfier than 2 single ones connected. Adding vegetables to the breakfast would improve it massively.
Beautiful view, excellent location and fantastic staff. Each room has a unique balcony and the hotel has plenty of trees, plants, and flowers. Breakfast came with a fantastic barista, and amazing homemade lemonade from local lemons.

United StatesHotel was very hard to find despite explicit directions from staff. Drinks were very expensive. We had to leave.
Wonderful location: far enough away from the crowds at the beach, but close enough to walk quickly. Some of the staff was extremely helpful; some not so much.

United StatesThe bath was modern, but very tiny.
The breakfast, location, and sleeping arrangements were perfectly adequate. The size of the sleeping area was however a bit smaller than we liked. The bathroom, though loaded with modern facilities, was tiny - it was difficult opening the doors to the shower.

AustriaThe breakfast was good, but compared to other breakfast buffets it lacked a bit in variety and quality - but this seems to be a common thing in italy. Still we enjoyed it well enough. One other italien thing is not having a proper blanket on the bed but just some sheets and multiple layers of blankets - this is really annoying, but again not the hotels fault but common in italy.
The room was very big, the balcony was great with comfy furniture, the bathroom was clean and the shower was big. The staff was very welcoming and kind and helpful in case of questions. Also super nice to get the Cinuqe Terre Card at a discount.

AustraliaThere was nothing to dislike.
It was a lovely surprise when we arrived as booking accommodation is stressful when you do not know the area. We absolutely loved Hotel La Colonnina and decided to book another 3 nights. Monterossa was also my pick of the Cinque Terre towns. Breakfast and coffee were fabulous as, too, were the Aperol Spritz. Loved loved this hotel and this area. Great friendly staff. As we had to leave early at 5am, they gave us a brekky pack too. Would love to go back.

GermanyWe didn't like that we had to leave! The only possible complaint from me was that the bed was a little firm for my liking but I still slept well. The shower in the mor ing was bit cool or the hot water wasn't as plentiful, but over all these were small things to us.
The staff was so oncredibly inviting! The hotel was very clean and beautiful. Our room was very big and very nicely decorated. Bathrooms appeared to be marble tile. The breakfast was great and the wonderful lady that made cappuccinos created fun designs of jellyfish and various fishes in the frothed milk. It was a great stay and very much woth the price. They also had discounted stays if you call them directly, as well as discounts on the Cinque Terre train and hiking card. The hotel was also located within a quick walk to the main promenade areas of the old town, but it was one alley back away from the main streets so there was zero noise. The courtyard was also really nice to sit in and sip a glass of wine.
