Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The staff were fantastic, the views were magnificent and the rooms were comfortable our room had a balcony which had sea views. Bed was comfortable but a bit on the firm side. Air conditioning work really well and breakfast was good plenty of food

Beautiful hotel and surroundings with some of the best views over Sorrento! Very warm and welcoming on arrival. Had a lovely room with a wonderful view, lovely and clean, great shower and comfy bed! Breakfast was great and the staff all around were super helpful. Happy to help with organising trips, booking taxis and gave some really great restaurant recommendations too! Really enjoyed the pool area, found it very relaxing. Short walk down into town and the walk back up not too bad either, actually quite nice to be a little bit out of town. Couldn’t fault anything about the hotel at all and would definitely come back :)

United StatesWould have liked more options on lunch & dinner menus. Food was okay but bland. Taxi was necessary for transporting luggage to and from the hotel, for an older person like me.
Beautiful location, and a short walk downhill to town. Room was super clean and easy to access by elevator. Loved the pool on site and included breakfast had many options. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel is comfortable and the pool area is really clean and beautiful. La Badia has an interesting history which is reflected in its quirky and endearing layout. We had a room with a large comfortable bed and lovely terrace to sit out on overlooking the olive trees and views of Vesuvius. Staff are wonderful. The walk down the hill into Sorento is a lovely pleasure and after dinner the bus back up is a recommendation .

United StatesIt is paradise! Nothing to dislike! Around every turn is a stunning vista.there are flowering plants, fruit trees, and the most spectacular sunsets.
The setting was breathtakingly beautiful. Our view was of the Sorrento hillside and the Mediterranean. Our room was superb! The staff is very friendly and so helpful. The owner is a gracious woman who is so welcoming to all of her guests. She gave us tips on getting to Pompeii (by train, not by car). And gave us a warm send off when we left. I truly was sad to leave! The grounds or this hotel are so park like, beautiful views, tables and chairs to enjoy a bottle of wine. And numerous hammocks to relax in the shade while a warm Mediterranean breeze swings you to sleep. This is a Roman Gods paradise!

United KingdomThe only thing that id change would be having to walk back home after going into the centre of Sorrento. There is a bus that you can catch, but we'd missed it the time we tried.
Serene location, lovely and quiet. Very clean, and friendly staff. Breakfast had a nice variety, with the staff happy to greet you, and serve you hot drinks. The view from the terrace was unbeatable. Nice gardens surrounding the hotel, with olive trees and hammocks. The pool area was clean, and quiet. Plenty of beds available.

United KingdomThe only tiny niggle we had was difficulty in sorting out our bill at the end. It was correct, just difficult apportioning between members of the group. Everything else was brilliant.
We were so happy when we arrived. Fabulous location and views. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Lovely pool is a good size. Not far from Sorrento. We were really delighted with our stay - it is a truly excellent hotel.

United KingdomThe trek from the main road via the ‘shortcut’ is tough, especially in the heat as it is mainly uphill. My only suggestion would be a a shuttle bus, even if only back up from Sorrento town a few times in the evenings, as the hill wasn’t pleasant after a meal! Taxis are extortionate and we didn’t have much luck with the buses.
Hotel is in a beautiful location with stunning views of the gulf of Naples. We chose a room with a view and woke up each morning to a view of the gulf and Mount Vesuvius. Staff were friendly. Hotel was clean throughout. Breakfast was good with excellent coffee and a good selection (including cake!). Stunning views of the sunset from the terrace. Excellent pool with plenty of sun loungers and parasols. The jasmine around the shower in the pool was a nice touch.

The property was in an amazing location. Overlooking the coast from the rooms and restaurant. Fabulous views. Only a 12min walk to the centre of Sorrento. The food was good and reasonable and could watch the sunset every night. The hotel was very clean, even though the rooms were slightly dated I think this adds to the appeal of the hotel. The gardens had tables over looking the harbour and hammocks to hang out and relax. Fantastic location for the Amalfi coast.

SwitzerlandNo laundry service. Breakfast was a bit mediocre. Restaurant was great but at times a bit understaffed. Sorrento is definitely walkable but be aware that the walk from the marina up to the hotel will be 25 mins walking uphill.
Great view on Sorrento and the gulf of naples. Friendly staff that gave good recommendations for local sights and restaurants. Nice garden with hammocks for guests to use. Quiet at night.

United KingdomAny criticism would be purely pedantic as the positives outweigh any negatives. However, the hotel may want to consider upgrading the shower cubicles (or getting rid of them entirely and having wet rooms). Also, a selection of herbal teas for breakfast would be nice.
All the staff were amazing, so friendly and helpful. Due to the elevated position of the hotel, the views of the sea, Sorrento and Mount Vesuvius were stunning. Definitely recommend getting a room with a sea view! The hotel itself is very traditional with many original features and has a homely feel to it, which adds to its charm. We had a room off the main flowered courtyard which was completely lovely, and for an added bonus there was a wee gecko on the wall at night. Do not expect a modern, slick hotel as you may be disappointed! In the evenings the surrounding area is very quiet and peaceful as you are well away from the busy town centre. The swimming pool is perfect with plenty of sun loungers. There were also some very thoughtful additions, jasmine flowers around the outdoor shower by the pool smelt wonderful and there are hammocks under the olive trees in a lovely shady, breezy spot which were delightful in the heat of the mid-day sun. Wide selection of choice for breakfast, including cereal, croissants, fresh fruit, yogurts, cold meats and cheese, breads etc.... and cakes! There is also tea, fresh coffee, fruit juices etc available. We ate dinner at the hotel on one evening which was very nice. Traditional, home cooked food which was better than some of the restaurants in Sorrento. The dinner menu changes daily so the "mains" selection is limited but you can ask to see the menu in the morning and make your decision to eat there or not. The hotel is located above the centre of Sorrento, so it only takes 10 minutes to walk into town, which is all down hill and very easy. The walk back is uphill and quite steep, and takes about 20 minutes. We stayed for a week with a family of 5 and had an brilliant time. Thank you so much to the team at La Badia for providing such a beautiful hotel and friendly service.
