Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt was a very sweet hotel, I have no complaints.
I liked the 70s decor and very helpful staff. Particularly: they let me keep my bags and bike in the hotel on the day I left, so I could go for a long walk, which I really appreciated. Moneglia is very family friendly, cute town and lots of Germans. Good base for country walks and accessing the many other towns nearby. The staff were very lovely as I say, and spoke English which was helpful for me.

United StatesNothing. It suited me perfectly.
The hotel is an easy 5 minute walk from the train station and from the beach and the center of town, yet it felt quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful and it’s not too expensive. I’ll definitely go back on my next trip to Moneglia.

ItalyThat we were not able to stay longer.
The owner, Alberto, and his family were all pleasant and helpful. The staff were also equally eager to assist. They all did this willing and with a smile. Attending to all our needs, making sure we were comfortable. Their welcome and personal touch was excellent. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The breakfast offered was also excellent with fresh choices each day. We highly recommend this for anyone looking to have a relaxed and enjoyable stay.

United KingdomNot a thing!!
This is a basic but comfortable, family-run hotel whose main charm lies with the courtesy and efficiency of the staff. The location is also fabulous, right bang in the center of town, 2 minutes walk from the beach, and from an array of lovely restaurants. The room was, albeit a little bit dated, comfortable, clean, and with a (much-needed) super-efficient air con. The breakfast consists of a delicious continental buffet with an assortment of fresh home-made bakes to-die-for and the hot beverages were always served with a smile (no request is too much for the lovely staff). 5 stars hospitality at 3 stars price!!

AustraliaWe accidentally Offended the owner by walking through his breakfast room on returning to our room ...he was furious with us...we only wanted a look and there were no signs to say not to...but he was very angry with us...I wish that had not happened because it soured our visit and we were on tender hooks for the rest of the time..I could tell he was a tough boss because his girls didn't look relaxed.. perhaps he had had enough of tourists by September...but we are honest people
Very sweet and lots to choose from

United KingdomA few suggestions I would make is that would be good if they use less single use plastic cups, perhaps changing for normal glasses. The breakfast hours are only between 8am and 10.15am. In two occasions we had to leave early before 8 and couldn’t have breakfast. Perhaps if breakfast was between 7am and 10am would be better.
The room was as described on the app and the bed was comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and the location was excellent, just 5 minutes to the beach.

SwedenI would have liked som vegetables (tomato, cucumber or Bell peppers) for breakfast. Otherwise everything was good!
The hotel is rum by a very nice family, serviceminded and caring. The breakfast is good, by Italian standard, with homemade bread. The room is very clean and comfortable although a bit outdated, or retro if you prefer. The AC was good and we slept well, with no noise from the street, even if the hotel is next to the beach road. It was a few minutes walk to the beach.

Beautiful family run hotel, in a beautiful town in between Cinque Terres and Portofino. Very very clean. A six minute walk to the train station with regular trains to cinque terres and portofino. Hotel is in the heart of the town. the town is small and quiet, and it is nice to get out of the crowds of the other touristy places, the town is beautiful.

New ZealandLovely little family-run hotel, close to the beach (boat to the Cinque Terres from mid-June) & short walk to the train station for access to all the C Terre villages. Extremely friendly & helpful owners, full of information about the area. Wonderful continental breakfast, everything made on site. Several restaurants in the village for dinner. An older style hotel but clean & also has a lift. Would definitely stay again.

We had booked a l multiple bed room for the 2 of us(as what was available on booking) and they provided us with breakfast, free of charge as they said they wanted to compensate for the extra cost of the room, so nice of them! Everything about our stay was great and I would highly recommend staying here and will be back again!
