Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SwedenVery hard bed! First night we only had one pillow each, but upon request they gave us one more each so problem solved. Very thin walls and door to the hallway. Luckily, we only had problems with noisy neighbours one night, and they weren't even that noisy. Did miss a kettle. When we got the room the toilet seat was cracked, but weird they didn't notice when cleaning. But even tho we forgot to mention this they fixed it for us the next day with a brand new seat! Well done!
The balcony view, bathroom, cleanlyness, fridge, AC, the friendly staff.

United KingdomVery difficult to regulate and maintain the water temperature whilst showering. This may be due to demand in the morning so we showered later in the day.
Continental breakfast with reasonable choice. Certainly value for money. Spacious light junior suite. Comfortable beds. Lovely friendly staff. Very clean. Lift from via Balbi up to reception thank goodness (and another to rooms) Good position near main station and 15 minute walk to city centre, 5+ minutes down to port, lift next to hotel up to next level.

CanadaThe entrance was a bit unconventional- but it added to the charm.
It was unexpected, in a good way. Built on the side of a mountain a long time ago. Long hallways. Tiny elevators. Beautiful bedrooms - we had a view over the town and harbour and a small balcony.

AustraliaOthers have mentioned this, but I will too. The breakfast can only be described as mediocre average. Get in quick if you want a croissant without a jam or cream filling. And if you like orange juice for breakfast, bring your own.
Should confess first that we had the best room in the hotel, the corner Junior Suite on the 5th floor. Spacious room, comfortable bed, sitting area in the corner alcove. The entire hotel is a classic European hotel with reception up on a higher floor, smallish but workable lift (note that there are some stairs to climb to get to the lift). The hotel is very close to the main station, but is very quiet as it is set back some 30 metres from the street, and buildings obscure the street. Road noise is not a problem if you like having a window open at night. The entrance to the hotel is right next to the entrance to the lift going to the Museum of World Cultures. This lift is free, as are all funiculars and rack railways in Genoa.

United StatesI had read reviews about the confusing entryway, through a corridor then up in a small lift to the reception area. The entry was a little hard to find but was not sketchy when we were there, as some reviews suggested and there was good signage to direct us to reception once inside the corridor.
Our standard double room with a balcony was simple but nice and clean. Breakfast was also simple but sufficient. Staff were courteous and helpful, especially with luggage handling as there is a 1/2 level of stairs between the reception area and the elevator to rooms. There was a nice restaurant right next door that came in handy. It's not a long walk to the train station, which was also a plus. It was a good value for the money.

The staff! The staff were so amazing. We didn’t read properly about booking parking. We were helped by the member of staff coming to collect our bags downstairs and giving directions to the parking garage just around the corner.

Switzerland- The hotel is a bit outdated. - The access to the suggested parking lot and the hotel are not very obvious. - Some of the streets between the hotel and the port didn't feel very safe. (But that's not the hotel's fault of course.)
- Large renovated room and bathroom. - Helpful and friendly staff. (Especially the gentleman who welcomed us, spoke french and lend us an umbrella.) - Easy access to the city centre. - AC - Mini fridge - Parking lot close by - Breakfast was ok - View
