Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainHercules House was perfect for us, it's situated in the heart of a real Italian neighbour hood. We really experienced every day authentic Italian living.. the fish mongers below do start work early. To be fair, they were a reliable alarm clock! At night the house was quiet with a good working air con unit. I used the communal kettle each morning for a coffee, we never saw or heard any one from the other two rooms during our stay. Plenty of cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance, we also found a good sized supermarket close by. Enzo (our host) was a lovely guy, it was a pleasure to have met him.

SlovakiaThe only minus was a little less dishes and cutlery, but it was not very important.
Everything was excellent. The owners of the accommodation were very pleasant, they always tried to advise and help with everything. Location very good 8 min. from the train station and therefore a short time to Naples and Pompei. Many restaurants, pizzerias and cafes around. P.S.: The red wine was very good.☺️

United KingdomThe room was lovely, with a fridge/freezer, balcony and bathroom. The bed was very comfortable, and literally a stones throw from the train station, Herculaneum and also the restaurants. The best part was the hosts, they kept in contact all the time, and they were so lovely. Even bringing us some treats on our second night! Highly recommended.

SpainThey only have a 3 hour window check in. If you’re out of those hours they charge $20. It’s next to a fish/fleamarket that is dirty. Lots of trash on the street.
Clean, air conditioned, enough space, comfortable! Helpful host

GermanyThe bed could have been more comfortable and a little bigger. (But we are not the smallest of people.)😇
Away from the typical tourist place. The flee market just outside the door...we daily bought fresh food that was tasty and lower priced. Olive guy👍🏻 was terrific and a great pizzeria around the corner! The napoli...👍🏻great! The Herculium is just a small walk away and better that the tourist trap by Pompeii.

The hosts are lovely. We were met at the airport as our flight arrived in the evening - this all went smoothly. The property is perfectly located to enjoy the sites. The room is a good size and was spotless. There are loads of great restaurants around, so it is very easy to find good food! We would certainly recommend this as a place to stay.

GermanyThe appartment is located next to a bunch of restaurants and supermarkets in Ercolano. The train station to Napels and Pompeij is maybe 5 min away. Travelling to Napels and Pompeij by train takes ca. 20 min, to Rome maybe 90 min. Vesuvio Express station for visiting mount Vesuv is next to the train station. Appartment itself was very clean and had a nice interior. Fridge and microwave in a shared kitchen available. Big plus for the warm and wet days: Air conditioning available. Thanks a lot to our hosts! We had some great holidays!

AustraliaThe area is a little off-putting, above a market and graffiti everywhere. It doesn't seem unsafe once you settle in. Above pesceria so smelly to leave the balcony doors open. And sounded like someone was running up and down and dragging furniture above at all hours.
Close to the ruins. Basic but most of what you need. Love the provision of a hanging rack and hangers. Good shower. Friendly owner who met us at the property.

CroatiaThe place is excellent, so is the host (very helpful and kind)! They waited us after check in time. Everything is new and clean. Location was great for us, because we went to Vesuvius with a bus that starts 5min from apartment. And one day we went to Sorrento with a train (station also 5min from apartment). To Naples is aprox.20min by train. Herculanium site is just a few steps away. There is a market under the apartment, which was great, you can buy food. Eurospin is also near. And next to the entrance there is fast food (arancini, fritate 1eur...they also sell pizza but we didn't try it). Very nice gelato not far away. There are lots of restaurants around but we didn't use them. In the apartment it would be nice to have at least microwave, so we could prepare something to eat. But there is kettle and everything for coffee/tea. Google took us to the wrong street, so for everyone renting the apartment, the apartment is in the alley behind the museum.

United KingdomThe front door was a bit of a bother, I wasn't strong enough to pull it open but luckily my partner was. The heat had expanded the metal door so it was difficult to open and close although this wasn't a major issue, just be prepared to use some force. Another minor thing, there wasn't a full length mirror so getting ready to go out was interesting. Again though, not a massive deal breaker.
Excellent place to rest our heads. We were out and about for the majority of our stay but for when we came back Hercules House it was ideal, it had everything we needed plus air con which was a bonus for how hot it was! There is a little market that takes place just below the apartment which I thought would be noisy however the doors kept all the noise out which was great. The bed was huge which I loved and it was comfortable. There were some lovely little places to eat really close and the train station was just at the top of the hill which was ideal as that was our main mode of transport during our trip. Communication was good between ourselves and the hosts, and they messaged us as we landed to find out our arrival which was a nice touch. We were about a half an hour (approx) train journey into Naples city and about an hour from Sorrento. The train tickets were very cheap also. We were warned about the trains beforehand however there was nothing to worry about, I felt safe on them.
