Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustriaThe room was tiny. I asked to change rooms or even upgrade, but there was nothing available until the following day. The offered room, was next to the one we already had.. The bathroom was like a broom cupboard. The door almost touched the washbasin. The trellis separating the terraces didn't afford any privacy whatsoever, so even though the terrace was a good size, it wasn't easy to use, because people from other rooms were almost sitting next to us and smoking! The hotel is too far away from the sites. It took about 30-40 minutes to walk to the Vatican. The bed only had a base sheet and a top sheet. There was no duvet or bedspread. It got cold in the night. I found a thin stained quilt, without a cover, inside the wardrobe. We used it the first night and left it on the bed the following morning, hoping that housekeeping would put a cover on it. The bed was made, with that left on top! The restaurant was disappointing. We reserved a table for 19:00. We were given menus, then the waiter went away. My husband called him over after ten minutes and he took our order. That was the last contact we had with him, until it came to asking for the bill. There was another waiter who was slightly more attentive, but not much more. Our empty dishes sat on our table for about 20 minutes. Eventually I attracted the attention of the other waiter and asked if he would clear the table and bring dessert menus. He cleared the table, but didn't bring menus. After about ten minutes, while he was standing at the bar, I called him over again. He brought the menus. Fifteen minutes later and no one came to take our order, so we decided to leave. We then asked for our bill. That is when our original waiter turned up! The pool on the website looks good. In reality, it was a small metal /plastic sided pool, with a decking built around it. It even had a cistern ball cock adjusting the water level!
Breakfast was decent. The hotel was quite clean, although under the bed was dusty and dropped medication was there. We added our six year old grandson onto our reservation and the hotel did not charge any extra. There was free, secure parking.

United KingdomThe breakfast was plentiful but it was the same food every morning. Also it would have been nice to have the bar open in the garden area in the evening and make use of the nice area more.
The hotel and bedroom were very clean, and the evening meal was very good value.

DenmarkWeird and a little stressful that we got an upgrade from a double room to a big suite without them explaining it to me. Which just made me doubt whether I would be charged an extra cost at checkout. The pool was a nice facility but very small. The breakfast was not really that fresh and the cooking skills were lacking. The varieties were also not really that great. The shower was broken and therefore lacking in several functions. The room was generally a bit worn down. The bed was also a bit worn down and we could feel the springs in the mattress. The lounge was also a bit simple and the vending machine was broken so you needed exact change to use it but the reception staff were annoyed at us for asking for help. The location is a bit far away from public transport and not really in walking distance to the city centre.
Nice and spacious room. Good A/C. Okay breakfast. Cozy pool. 24-hour reception. Elevator. Bathtub. Free parking.

New ZealandNew to Rome; we did not feel comfortable walking around the area with so much tagging and rubbish around, and staff warned to keep passports safe due to pickpockets.
The hotel felt glamorous compared to other buildings in the area. The restaurant was great with delicious food and generous servings.

HungaryThere was one waiter at the restaurant who was a bit rude when we wanted to sit to a 4 person table and after that he did not allow us to sit there 2-2 people could sit to the 4 person tables. It was a bit strange. I felt like the only reason he did not let us because we were young and the other one were about 50-60 years old. I felt that behaviour a bit disrespectful. The other problem: the room was a bit dusty .

United KingdomBeds were really hard, as were the pillows. Rooms were hot (even in early April) and we couldn’t find a way to cool them so slept with the window open, which was quite noisy. Overall not a great night’s sleep.
Location was great, just a 30minute walk to the Vatican. Parking was included. Breakfast buffet also included - it wasn’t vast but it was adequate. Perfect for our 1night stay.

HungaryWhen we arrived to the hotel room it was extremely hot and we couldn’t open a window without the help of one of the staff. Plug was only one side of the bed, the hairdryer was really old and smelly, and the windows were old too and broken. The hotel was too far away from everything, due to the hectic and unpredictable public transportation (waiting 20-25 minutes for buses) it felt even worse, only the Vatican was 20 minutes away on foot.
The hotel has a nice and staff were helpful, the breakfast was good, also the packed breakfast was fine too. The roof terrace has a nice view. Our room was big enough and the double bed was comfortable.
