Amazing hostel to base my visit to Cinque Terre. First of all, the staff were all amazing!! Very friendly and super helpful. The hostel is set up more like visiting your family’s home where you feel so welcome! There’s free pasta and cereal in the kitchen, and the staff being in different treats everyday. The beds are comfy, rooms are spacious, the bathrooms are roomy and clean. The hostel is conveniently located 1 block away from the bus stop including one that takes you to Pontovenere (highly recommended), and only 10 min walk to the train station and the ferry (whichever way you want to visit Cinque Terre). If you want to get away from all the crowds, ask the staff about the hike from Riomaggiore to pontovenere—it’s moderately difficult but the views are so worth it! They have so many offers like cooking classes for pesto which is what the area is known for, and the staff know all the great tours and swimming places. They even have a family dinner on Sunday nights that’s free for everyone

Super cool hostel!! Amazing, friendly staff, great pesto nights, very clean and comfortable! Close to the station ,to the center,and bus! Rooms were very nice and comfortable! A perfect great stay! Highly recommend this place!! Will come again!!

Very clean, comfortable bed, very social and easy to make friends, the staff were amazing and gave the guests so many tips on hikes, places to eat ect, offered a towel at no extra charge, great location (close to train station and bus station). Everyone in the hostel felt very at home and cosy. Loved it.

Only 3 Full bathrooms (shower and toilet together) available and were often in use.

Great location, 10 minutes walking from the LA Spezia centrale station. Old building with well maintained and some modern facilities. Clean & comfy room and common areas (beautiful terrace). Free towel. Friendly staffs are very helpful. Thanks for the great hiking recommendation. Many free foods, free coffee and teas.

EVERYTHING!!!! Cant stress enough it was delightful surprise how niche and posh the place was, right from the kitchen to the terrace to the rooms to the fabulous washrooms and exceptionally welcoming and helpful hosts at the property. I had a great time staying there. I will surely consider staying there only when i go next time.

Costello is one of the best hostels I've stayed in. The staff is very friendly and happy to help you with information about Cinque Terre (and around). The vibe is excellent, starting with a warm welcome. They organize a small gathering every few days and a lot of people actually come - I met fellow travellers, heard some amazing stories, had fun...overall a great experience! There is some food available in the kitchen (cereals, cookies) along with coffee in the morning, and you can store your own food in the fridge if needed. I loved the cute terrace, it was perfect for my morning coffee. :) All in all, would recommend 10/10

If I had to grumble, it is slightly expensive for a hostel, and it could do with more showers and toilets. The good points far, far outweigh any negatives though.

Staff are really nice and friendly, as were all the guests I met. As a middle aged man, I feel very self conscious these days about staying in a place that's really aimed at the young, but I was made very welcome by everybody there. In hostels, its always the staff that set the vibes, so hats of to Sarah and Roisin for creating the perfect ambience. Facilities are fine, beds are clean, linen provided, and with power points nearby. Towels free of charge. Lockers are good size. Kitchen well equipped. As a jaded full time traveller who spends a good part of his life in anonymous budget hotels, this is one place that I will likely remember....I can't praise it higher than that!

The backpackers hostel. A lot of attention to detail for a solo traveler. The staff is super friendly and ready to help with anything and know how to offer recommendations. Great amenities with towels, free food, mosquito spray, and whatever you might need. Small space is good for socializing too.

Loved the vibe at La Costello. Nothing was too hard for the staff. They went above and beyond to help. Great place just to hang out and perfect spot for travelling to the Cinque Terre and other coastal towns. Loved it. Also went on the best kayaking tour ever with Kayak La Spezia

Loved the place! Among the best hostels I've stayed at. I found the facilities to be quite thoughtful. I got a 6-bed female dorm, but the room did not feel crowded at all, and was quite spacious and airy, with a sizeable storage box under the bed that fit my medium-sized luggage. The bed itself was comfortable with curtains you can draw. I appreciate that the hostel tries to keep sleeping hours (no usage of hairdryer past 10pm). Fellow travellers were also friendly and considerate, and I think it's because the hostel keeps a good culture. Kitchen was great, with some free items, dishwasher, plenty of clean utensils. The hostel even organised a pesto night for people to mingle.

Unfortunately our room is located directly in front of the main entrance and the reception hallway so at night, you can hear everything from the outside even with earplugs on.

The hostel is located in a very strategic position near the main train station which is perfect if you're visiting cinque terre. It is also surrounded by various shops and restaurants. The hostel is very clean and they provide you with towels and locks for the locker, free of charge. They also provide various breakfast options. The staff are very friendly and accomodating. They welcomed me very cheerfully and offered recommendations and advices for my trip.

Its very loudy. You hear everything in your bed if you wanna sleep but somebody having drinks or talking in the common area. Also shared bathroom with men and women and its very busy in the mornings.

Very beautiful place and staff was super nice and helpful! Bedsheets clean and nice. Free coffee and nice terrace. Location super good! Its a perfect place for 1-2 nights.

- The toilets only being inside the showers complicates things a little during rush hours (evening and morning). - It is a bit pricey for what it is (a hostel bed) but I guess this is the new reality nowadays.

It’s been a while since I stayed there but it’s been on my mind ever since so I decided to come back and write this review. Since the moment I enetered the hostel I was made to feel at home, the owner Andrea was so kind, remembered my name right away and gave lots of tips for seeing Cinque Terre. The volunteers working here were also the sweetest. The hostel is small and the outside area is really nice so you always end up sitting there all together. After a couple of days there we ended up feeling like an old group of friends.

They don’t have enough bathrooms. You have to wait for people to finish their shower, so you can use a toilet seat and this can take forever.

The staff is super friendly and eager to help. Since the moment you step in, you feel welcomed.
