Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe only things were that the shower was in the room, not the bathroom, so if you’re bashful like me, kind of embarrassing to have an audience. I could not figure out how to use the coffee machine!!!
Clean, pretty room. Was given perfect instructions to access our room by the host. Breakfast was not provided, but they left some nice packaged pastries. Coffee and teapot there. Really nice host, she was very helpful as far as giving us directions and helping us get transportation.

United StatesShower head in the room should be moved to the side wall over the drain which would give much more room to move within the shower stall.
Clean, excellent location, friendly staff. Perfect in every way.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Relais Circo Massimo, and we loved it. We arrived at night, and Elena had left everything explained in detail for us to get into the building and room. The room was very clean and quiet. Is located conveniently at a walkable distance from every interesting place you may like to visit in Rome. I highly recommend this place for your stay in Rome.

CroatiaFantastic accommodation, highly recommended. Beautiful and quiet neighborhood. 2 minutes from the metro with which you can reach everything in Rome. Everything was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Different complimentary snacks, fruit, water, drinks, tea and coffee were provided, which was very much appreciated. Girl at the reception is so kind and helpful with anything you might need. I would again stay here even if the reason for my visit of Rome wasn't in that neighbourhood.

United StatesWe didn't mind this at all, but just note that the room we stayed in had an open glass shower in the room itself, separate from the bathroom.
Elena was tremendous and so helpful and kind. The hotel is located in a beautiful neighborhood on the Aventine Hill, far enough from tourist spots and close enough to walk to them all. It was clean, bright, and a wonderful spot to return home to at night and for siesta. We'll definitely return!

United StatesAs far as areas of improvement, there isn’t much. The shower is in the bedroom which is a bit different. And can potentially be a little awkward if you’re sharing the room with a friend. Not a concern if you’re a solo traveler or traveling with your significant other. My apartment was also right next to the front desk but they kept the noise level down which I appreciated.
When it comes to travel accommodations, I have high standards. My stay at Relais Circo Massimo blew my expectations out of the water. First off, Elena and her staff did a great job communicating with me prior and during my booking. They always responded promptly and there was never a language barrier as you sometimes have with international travel. They provided me with all of the information I needed to make my arrival comfortable. During my trip to Italy, I stayed at six different properties that were booked through Booking.com. Circo Maximo was by far the best of the bunch. The property is located in a nice part of Rome. And a quiet part of the city which is a feat in itself in such a bustling city. Despite the neighborhood, it’s still in a prime location: a short walk to the Roman ruins. And also three minutes or so by foot to get to the Metro and bus station. I’m a light sleeper so quite accommodations are big in my book. The apartment is also secure. There’s a gate that you have to open using a code that’s given to you. And then a different code to open the front door. And finally, keys to enter your apartment. This provides a nice sense of security. With all of this being said, the beauty is in the details. They had everything you need in the apartment and then some. The bed is comfortable. They provided hand towels (only one other property out of the six I stayed at offered this amenity). There’s a mini fridge in the room. They provided you with helpful information through a letter that was printed out and provided upon check-in. They have hand lotion (the only one out of the six to do so). They provided a generous number of complimentary snacks and soft drinks/beer. There’s also a nice garden where you can hang out. Talk about providing all of the amenities you need and then some! If all of this wasn’t enough, Elena was proactive in helping me out. She knew I was planning to travel by bus to get to The Vatican.

United StatesI would prefer a more private window curtain option.
I found the location and the price the best things about this rental. It was clean and comfortable as well, and the staff was very communicative and friendly. It is in a really nice neighborhood and is quiet. I felt safe and out of the hustle and bustle yet close enough to get to nearby sights. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

AustraliaElena and Alaksandra were so friendly and accommodating. I have never been to Rome before and Elena took time to go through a map and show me all the best spots to go, additional to the usual tourist attractions. She showed me all the best authentic Italian restaurants, where the locals like going, and I had the best tiramisu of my life at one of the places she recommended. The hotel itself was spotless, so clean you could eat off the floor. Very comfortable bed and quality pillows. Location was great, walking distance to colosseum and nearby attractions and steps from public transport that would take you directly to Vatican City or other, further away sites. Could not recommend this place more.

United StatesThe kitchen and bathroom felt more spacious than the bedroom--there would be limited space if it were a couple who had a fair amount of luggage, for example.
The owner was very helpful with my questions beforehand. They can arrange airport or train station transfers for you--just ask. All the directions, such as getting into the apartment, were very clear and worked perfectly. There is a kitchen with refrigerator, microwave and stove top, but no oven. I saw a rose garden (Roseto Comunale) nearby that I think is within walking distance, which would be nice place to visit in spring and summer evenings. The neighborhood looks pleasanter than where I had stayed earlier in Rome. It is very near the Circo Massimo Metro station, and if you don't have much luggage, you can walk from the metro station to the apartment.
