Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Clean, centrally located, great breakfast, helpful staff. Included in our stay was a trip to the Murano glass factory and showroom where we were able to purchase some gifts.

The breakfast was very good we were in a suite three adults two Lg beds I had sofa bed ? comfort taking into consideration this property is over 800 yrs old it was nicely updated. the Ladies at the desk were Supper helpful. They took care of dinner reservations at a fine near by restaurant, took care to order our car and porter when we were ready to depart. It was a delight to work with all staff. Having been in the Limousine business for over 20 years as one of San Francisco's and world wide finest companies working with many of the most important people in the world I know what service means. I highly recommend this establishment for those seeking Fine accommodations.

United KingdomSuffering the strain and indignity of lugging heavy suitcases through the winding streets from car park to hotel and back, having scoffed at the €150 each way charge for the hotel to transfer them. Nevertheless, I've ended up ticking the extra-smiley-face icon for value-for money - that's relative for Venice!
A unique experience being able to watch the traffic on the Grand Canal from the windows of our room and while having breakfast. Characterful, civilized and friendly.

RomaniaThey didn't have a coffee maker in the room. It would have been useful as we arrived back exhausted and it would have been nice to be able to enjoy a tea or coffee in the evening on the lovely terrace of the room.
We spent only 3 days in Venice, at the Carnival, during the chosen period also being my birthday. The hotel was perfect, well located, a 20 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge and another 10 to St. Mark's Square, through the winding streets of Venice. Super qualified and kind staff, especially Anka, from the reception, very friendly and always ready to help us. Thank you, dear Anka, for the way you are, we felt like we were friends, wonderful! On the first day we arrived very early and they offered us breakfast because we wouldn't have been able to have it anyway on the last morning, as we were leaving very early. We didn't ask for this, the proposal came from them and we thought it was very nice. I had the most beautiful room with a view of the Grand Canal, room 201, the only one with a large terrace in the entire hotel. The cleaning was impeccable, many congratulations to the staff who did this service! On Sunday, when I got back to the hotel, there was a birthday cake with a card from the hotel waiting for me in the room (it was my birthday) and it was a wonderful surprise = a big plus for the attention they give to their guests. The hotel also offered us a free private tour of one of the factories in Murano with transport included, which again we thought was very nice of them. All the staff were very kind throughout our stay with them. The breakfast was very good, with several choices of cheeses, cold cuts, fresh fruit, homemade cakes, tarts and muffins, 3 kinds of juice, several choices of tea and coffee, so quite varied, you could easily find something to like it On the morning we left, very early (about 4 o'clock), they offered us coffee and biscuits. The stay at their place was full of those small gestures and details that make the difference and that turn an average stay into something exceptional.

SwitzerlandBreakfast time felt really odd and very unwelcoming, with no overview given to me. I was directed to my seat with simply a question on what room I’m from. Even when i asked if I could understand what the spread was (since I have dietary restrictions) , I was told it is what is around and I can help myself. This felt odd cos another staff was seen to give a warm welcome and introduction of what the food spread was to another guest. This difference in attitude was annoying. I hope you can standardise the warm welcome and include an introduction to all guests, not only to selected ones.
Location is great, super easy to get too, considering its very near the train station. The & front serving staff who attended to our queries (even at late hours!) with a smile, and those at the back end who collaborated with hubby to help add nice touches of surprise to my special day. These guys made my stay exceptional.

United KingdomNothing.
The hotel staff were brilliant. A concern I had on arrival, over room allocation, was quickly and efficiently remedied. The staff were always courteous and engaging. They obviously prided themselves on their levels of customer service. We were staying in Venice during my wife's birthday and were both surprised to find a beautiful chocolate cake (adorned with a candle and birthday wishes from the hotel) in our room on return from sightseeing that evening. Those little (unsolicited) extra touches are what make staying at a hotel a 'special' experience.

AustraliaThey were accommodating straight from the start! Organization of both rooms right next to each other was greatly appreciated. Both rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was amazing, with a great variety of foods, and staff always there and to help with everyone's needs. Reception staff were really lovely and extremely helpful with navigation around Venice, along with recommendations of places to see and go to. It was a brilliant experience and would definitely consider booking there again next time we return. We really enjoyed our stay here at Canal Grande!
