Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThere was nothing I didn't like.
This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. My single room was spacious with a lovely renovated bathroom. The location is excellent and the train station is only a 10 minute walk if you're day tripping. I did not eat breakfast at the hotel so unable to comment.

CanadaWould have liked a slight larger room but it was still very adequate.
We loved our four nights stay at the Bristol Palace. The best in every way, we couldn’t have chosen better! We had a lovely room, old style, well-appointed on the 6th floor and quiet. not the largest but perfect for our needs and the price was right. The hotel cannot be better situated on the main street, XX Settembre, 3 minutes away from the main square with it’s fountain, old Genoa, 5 minutes walk to the cathedral and 10 minutes to the palaces and to the old port, where you can take advantage of boat excursions (went to Portofino and visited other villages along the way, with the company Golfo Paridiso recommended by the hotel). Numerous great restaurants in the vicinity. All the restaurants recommended by the staff were perfect and within walking distance. El Genovese (a typical Genovese restaurant…very affordable with delicious food, but be there at opening at 7h00 or make a reservation as it’s very popular) Zefferino a posh established restaurant where three popes ate and so did numerous political and show business personalities. Upscale but still very reasonably priced. El Marin, a Michelin star restaurant overlooking the port. We had the most incredible meal and again unbeatable quality at 70 euros for a five courses meal with complimentary extras. The best Michelin star restaurant quality/price we ever experienced. Bristol Palace also offers a lovely restaurant, if you do not feel like going out. The hotel is also a 10-15 minutes walk from the train station, where we took the train to get to the Cinque Terre. We felt that our pied à terre in Genoa was the best way to do get to surrounding attractions while experiencing a lovely city with a lot to see and where all residents are so kind and helpful. Thank you to all the staff that helped us, you’re all great ambassadors for the best hotel in Genoa. Without hesitation, this is the hotel I would positively recommend for any stay in Genoa.

United KingdomWe had a large double bed, however it was two singles put together with no suitable topper to smooth out the gap in the middle, which resulted in bed moving apart, and falling into the gap which wasn't what I would expect from a 5* hotel
Location fantastic, staff really helpful and friendly, especially doorman/concierge

EstoniaConsidering the level of dinner in the same restaurant room, the breakfast could be improved- it was good, but not extraordinary. ;)
Great location, fantastic restaurant for dinner, spacious rooms, all in all a nice experience. Would not hesitate to return to the same hotel next time.

Beautiful old character building close to harbour and nice shopping district. I was referred to a public restaurant which was really local and good. Taxi to rail was easy and prompt right in front of hotel

United KingdomThese are simply my little niggles...don't let it put you off! Upon checking in our 1st room wasn't very clean and we'd asked for a quiet room. We were on the 1st floor and could hear the 'thump- thump' of music so asked to move. (Staff very helpful) our 2nd room was much better. The beds(for us) weren't particularly comfortable, neither were the pillows but that's personal preference. The shower screen over the bath edge has a gap at the base and when showing, this cause the floor to flood so we had to use towels to soak up the water! I appreciate this is a city centre hotel but I felt the price was a little steep.
Great location. Close to historical centre, 15 min walk to train station (Brignole) and on main shopping street. Excellent front of house staff and concierge (Davide) 👌🏻 Large rooms Excellent water pressure for showering 🚿 Fantastic spiral staircase!

United KingdomThe initial room description showed I had a shower and a bath in the bathroom but I only had a small corner shower. There was no milk or creamer placed in the rooms despite tea and coffee making facilities provided and a good selection of tea and coffee. No door on my first room wardrobe (open style). No British newspapers available upon request as suggested on the website.
The room was very clean and spacious. The front desk staff spoke English well and were accommodating where they could be.

United KingdomSmall detail but The hairdryer-you have to hold down the button to keep the hairdryer on. I really dislike these as it is so difficult to style your hair using this type. I wish hotels would just use the normal hairdryer with on/off switch.
Location was excellent First time visiting Genoa and found ourselves right in the best part of the city.

FranceThe bar was extremely unpleasant, cold, horrible furniture, bright light, and most important, the barman did not show up for almost 10 minutes waiting there. He has to be called by somebody on the phone to come and check if there are people. It is not a bar and the wrong expectations are set from the hotel website.
The room, bathroom, the building itself, the staff at the reception and the valet. They were very kind and helpful, sharing their insight in terms of restaurants (not the touristic ones). Breakfast was great too! I loved that everything was clean and well maintained.
