Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalA lot of wind noise if the corridors windows are open. Breakfast poor on fruit options, lack of a plant based alternative to dairy, lack of labelling for ingredients.
The view is beautiful from the top floors, big room with a small kitchen which is great for families with kids. It shows it's age, but we find it pleasant and comfy. Location is good.

United KingdomI don’t like the fact that they charge you for a single coffee in your room €2.50 each pod when there is a beautiful coffee shop charging 0.80c right opposite. I was two days in before I knew they charged by which time this was an extra €10 to our stay. It’s an unnecessary charge and is a bit mean- especially as it’s not clear until after you have had the coffee and they leave you with a bill. Also, the breakfast is awful. And in Italy, it’s really difficult to get a bad breakfast. The coffee is undrinkable. There is a very small poor selection of breakfast foods and half were hidden out of sight. The juices are not fresh and are concentrates with water added. The croissants are tiny and stale. Something that is so cheap and easy to get right has been given little attention and as a result, during our three night stay, we took breakfast only once and paid €2.70 for a croissant and coffee in the cafe in front of the hotel.
Staff are always friendly and the location is perfect- on the edge of the old town and new town

AustraliaAs English visitors we would have liked tea making facilities but there was only a coffee machine. The lift was probably the slowest I have been in for a long time.
The hotel was perfectly located at the end of the mainland peninsular overlooking the old town out on the island. The view from our room was spectacular. The room itself provided all that we needed but the style of furniture was very old fashioned.

EstoniaThere is no place to park nearby, had to look for a parking spot for some time and then walk to the hotel. Would be okay if booking.com wouldn't say that the place has parking but it mentions parking.

BulgariaI read a lot of comments about old furnitures. They are not old, but thematic! The atmosphere in the hotel represents the atmosphere of a ship/vessel! There is nothing to complain about!
So grateful to find this hotel! I would say one of my best stay ever! Kudos! - Let start with the check-in: the receptionist was very kind and we manage to have our room before the standard checkin time. - The hotel staff: all of them (receptionists, in the restaurant, cleaners) are very polite and we felt well welcomed all the time! - The location of the hotel: couldn’t be better! Right next to the bridge of the old town, on the main street with the shops and restaurants. 7-8 mins walk from the train station, 10 mins walk to the supermarket, 5 mins walk to the old town, 10 mins walk to the beach Purita. - The room: this was the best room ever! The size was so big for 2, with big beds, area with table and chairs, enough furniture to put your things. The view is wonderful, you see the whole see with the old town, yachts, the lungomare and the new town. Very good soundproofed room, dark curtains and very good air conditioned - this is called relaxing day and night! Very clean, the staff responsible for cleaning was amazing. Every day our room was cleaned with new towels! Very comfortable beds and pillows!
