Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomYou have to climb stairs to the hotel, the building is an old-styled one so the stairs are longer than I expected. But still great value, love everything else.
The staff of the hotel were very friendly and helpful, location is great too very close to everything. Room and the shared bathroom are very clean. Very good price as well.

Australia2 flights of stairs to carry up luggage but this is not unusual for this type of accommodation and really a minor inconvenience.
The location was very central to all of Florence walking to all historical places of interest. The room was spacious overlooking a private courtyard with a comfortable bed and lovely hot shower.. No breakfast was available but so many options available close by. Just 25 mins walk from the train station.

United StatesPeople with big luggages should be mindful about carrying it through steep stairs. The hotel is on the third floor (second in European system).
It’s in a very central location, close to all major attractions. Everyone on the staff were very helpful. It seemed like a very old building, but very well decorated and furnished inside. It was a very unique experience.

One of the best hotels I've been in, feel like you're living in a museum. At first I was worried that the restroom was shared, but I saw such a beautiful and clean room for the first time. The location is 100/10, it took us 5-10 minutes to reach any sightseeing . Free coffee from the coffee machine in the morning and also a big thank to the host who met us so well. I will also add 10/10 for the wifi

AustraliaYou had to walk up two flights of stairs to get to the property with no elevator, but that was the only minor issue with the place.
This place was seriously fantastic! It had a AMAZING location under 5 minute walk from the main cathedral of Florence (cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore). It was central to everything you’d want to see in Florence as a tourist. The room itself was super clean and comfortable, and the interior decorating was cute. The sink in the room was very appreciated given there were shared bathrooms. There were two bathrooms we could access and both were very clean and comfortable to use. Free tea and coffee was provided, as was machine-made coffee from 8-11am. WiFi connection was very fast.

IrelandThere is only one shared bathroom and one shower between 6 rooms on the floor. By the entrance no sign of the hotel ( as explained by the host, who is a very welcome person, that the local legislation request). If you're arriving late, make sure to have the phone charged to make a call. The main entrance gate is automatically closed and if your phone battery dies( like happened in my case) there isn't any facility to contact the reception. The hotel reception is on the 3rd floor.
The building has a character , renaissance atmosphere, with 400 year history. Very High ceilings, large living room with antiques: cabinets, music box, tables, frescoes.

This place is great! It is quiet and the staff are very friendly, accommodating, and professional. The location is fantastic if you want to explore the center of Florence. It was so easy to walk everywhere from the hotel. The interior is very "Florence" and it's a unique experience. Everything was clean. I also loved the espresso machine, available in the morning. It made an excellent cappuccino. The place has a very calm vibe. I plan to take some "study vacations" here in the future.

South AfricaWhilst we knew upfront that we had to share a bathroom and toilet, it's quite frustrating when the facility is occupied. On our floor, there was only one shower and toilet, between 5/6 rooms.Lots of stairs to walk up which may prove problematic for older people.

Great location, easy walking distance to all sights and museums. Beautiful old building. Our room was at the back so no street noise. Shared bathroom was at the front and lots of street noise at night, so I would recommend asking for a back room.

CanadaIf you are staying a Friday or Saturday night due to the downtown location some noise may be heard. We brought earplugs which were perfectly effective at tuning out any outside noise.
Vincenzo was so welcoming and informative. He made us feel right at home in Hotel Bavaria. The location is very close to Duomo, many museums, restaurants, and the city centre. The outside of the hotel is accessible by a door with a key from the street, you then need another key to enter the hotel itself, followed by a key to enter the specific room. This made us feel very safe and secure. Our room was comfortable and clean and was significantly bigger than a typical hotel room. The sink in room was perfect for washing your face and brushing your teeth. The common space was beautiful with high ceilings and nice furniture. The washroom is shared with a few other rooms but is very clean and spacious. The free coffee machine in the morning was a great perk to start off our days exploring Florence! Overall a great stay and amazing value! Thank you Vincenzo and the hotel Bavaria staff for making our stay so memorable!
