Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The staff were brilliant especially Marie up in the dining area. Always friendly and welcoming. The reception staff also made our stay super with plenty of suggestions on transport and things to do. Also cleaning staff kept the whole place neat and tidy everyday. Take a bow folks.

IrelandI can't think of anything.
Everything about Santo Stefano is perfect. From being collected from the pre-arranged secure carpark and being dropped to the old town to the warm welcome, beautiful and comfortable rooms and best breakfast we had in all of Italy on our honeymoon, it was the perfect place to spend a few days. Maria, the host, was on call and had loads of recommendations of where to eat and what to do. She went above and beyond to ensure we were looked after.

GermanyIt's not really something we didn't like, just to be aware that the stairs are pretty steep so just something to take into account of mobility is somewhat reduced or traveling with small infants. We managed well though to take up our bags, son and buggy, well worth it as the place is great!
The staff are super nice, the location is amazing and the b&b is just beautiful, stylish, attention to detail everywhere, we loved our room, super comfy bed, great shower, they had a baby bed and high chair for our small son... breakfast is also very yummy with amazing views to the sea.

United KingdomI can't think of any faults - it's a charming place
it was just what you want from a smart b&b. The room was gorgeous and surprisingly big, the towels smelled so fresh and we came back to the room looking perfect each day. The receptionist on arrival was warm and informative and gave us her recommendations in the town. The breakfast bar was great and the lady who managed that in the morning was lovely and made super coffee.

HungaryRooms are somewhat small, and stairs are narrow. But these are old buildings so pack light and don't carry huge suitcases to the upstairs rooms.
Amazing breakfast room with sea views, on the top of the builing. You have to climb many stairs but it is very worth for the neverending sea views. Good, central location, the famous beach is just a few mins walk. Don't miss the sunrise, wake up early and walk across the bridge and to the rocks to see Polignano in the first ray of sunshine.

GermanyThe hotel was really nice and cosy. It was really clean and the staff is super friendly, warm and very helpful. The breakfast was also really amazing (which you have by the way on the rooftop of the hotel with a really beautiful panorama view). It is perfectly located in the old town of Polignano and very close to the famous bay. We can highly recommend the hotel and we will definitely come back next year!!

AustraliaIt was very noisy, we could hear a lot of noise from the other apartments. Lots of stairs and almost impossible to get the suitcases up the narrow, steep windy staircase if you are on the top level. I booked the spacious apartment but I didn’t get the apartment that was pictured so I was disappointed. It was certainly not spacious.
The location was perfect

AustraliaWe were on the top floor with a big balcony. We had 42 steps to get up to our apartment. No lift. It was extremely difficult getting up and down with our large luggage at our age. The bathroom was extremely small. You couldn’t have 2 people I. There at the same time. We had to have the doors of the shower open when having a shower to give us more room. Bring in the historic area in august was crazy busy. We had 1 night when another bed and breakfast apartment near us decided to Sit on their terrace at 5am in the morning and sing as v loud as all of them could. Extremely drunk. Not our accomodations fault but just saying that if we ever go back, we will stay just outside of the historical centre.
Great position in the historical centre. Very light and bright breakfast area with lovely terrace.
