Aldo and his wife was very welcoming and picked us up from the bus station and even dropped us back at the station for our next leg of our trip, the room was fantastic and they made us feel like part of their family I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend people to book this accommodation it has great views thank you for making our stay so pleasurable, John and Hilary

Nothing, best stay of our trip.

We were met by Aldo outside the police Station where we were able to park on the street for free. Aldo took us in his own car to the Sassi and his apartment. Great location and facilities with breakfast served round the corner in Aldo's art gallery. The breakfast was superb, fruit, yogurt, bread, cheese, freshly sliced meats, cake, tea and coffee. There was so much food Aldo gave us a doggy bag to take away for lunch. Aldo and his wife Rosa couldn't do enough, wonderful hosts.

We absolutely loved Matera and our stay at Sax Barisano. Our apartment was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Beautiful the pictures are an exact representation of the room. Very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was fabulous, good selection both sweet and savoury, loving put together by our hosts. Aldo and Rosa are wonderful people, always available to help in any way. We felt like we were visiting family. Aldo will pick you up outside the ZTL area and drive you in. He will help find parking for your car as well. We will definitely return to visit our new friends Aldo and Rosa! I highly recommend this B&B.

There is absolutely nothing at all to dislike

What an amazing place to stay … if we could give 20/10 we would ! Aldo and Rosa are more hosts.. they treat their guests as they would their own family :) The breakfast is the best I have ever had in my 4 visits to Italy … new produce to try (cactus fruit, buratta cheese etc) homemade focaccia bread and cake lovingly made by Rosa… They have made Matera a place forever in my heart ❤️… I cannot wait to return and send special friends to experience such a beautiful place and people. The location and the apartment itself is amazing. It is in the heart of the old town. Aldo met us at the parking lot. 20 eur/night and we took his car to the apartment. Very comfortable:) This place and the owners makes it not just a stay but also an experience. Definitely worth the rating.

WOW. Aldo and Rosa are the PERFECT hosts! They made our stay a 12/10 rating. The apartment is perfectly located in sassi. Aldo was such a character and took great pleasure in sharing their beautiful town with us. Breakfast was amazing! Best we had in our month in Italy. So authentic, and shared from the heart. We will definitely be recommending here to anyone who talks to us about travel in Italy. And we are already talking about when we will take the rest of the family back.

Fantastic location in Sasso Barisano with an amazing view from the terrace. Apartment was clean and charmingly furnished, with a modern bathroom and a convenient in-unit washer. Aldo and Rosa were very welcoming hosts - they met us outside the ZTL to help with parking and drove us to the B&B. I wish I spoke Italian so I could learn more about their life stories! Breakfasts were bountiful and delicious. Already thinking of when I can return to this beautiful place.

Our absolutely fantastic host - Aldo! He was very helpful, met us at the entrance to the town and escorted us to the car parking, then drove us in his car to his Bed and Breakfast. He even helped us with our suitcases, very nice. Location - you could hardly find a better location in terms of location in Matera. In the old town, with a great view of the cosy little town square, with restaurants and cafes. It wasn't noisy at all though, in fact the restaurants closed quite early. The apartment was very clean, preserving its authenticity, while being equipped with everything you need. A small kitchen area, a dining table, a clean bath, a single bed downstairs and a double bed on the mezzanine. The AC worked perfectly. The breakfast was fantastic, home cooked food, great coffee, but it was made so much better by the presence of Aldo and his lovely wife. We got all sorts of information about the history of the city, it was very interesting. I highly recommend this place.

The A/C was acting a bit strange, therefore it was too warm in the loft area during the night.

If you know how to appreciate true hospitality and authenticity, this will easily become your favorite place you’ve stayed in Italy. Every corner of the apartment and terrace is authentic and picture - perfect. The hosts are greatly generous, kind and helpful. Don’t expect this to be a high class resort, but more of a traditional, homey stay in grandma’s house. Matera as a city is stunning and this apartment with its location makes it absolutely unforgettable. Make sure to book the room with the balcony as the views and the atmosphere from early morning til late night bring this stay to a whole another level. Overall this was absolutely the most amazing start of my vacation, and you’re missing out a part of Italy if you’re not staying in this apartment!

Brilliant location for visiting the whole of Matera. Aldo and Rosa were excellent hosts and couldn't do enough for us - picking us up at the station, taking us to the bus stop when we left, recommending the best way to see Matera and where to eat, they were wonderful. The accommodation was charming - very comfortable and clean with plenty of amenities. Breakfast was served at the large kitchen table and was delicious. And they insisted we took any leftovers for our lunch! We loved our time at Sax Barisano and were sorry to leave.

The location was amazing right in the center of the Sassi area easy to walk to the main square whilst up the stairs, the stairs are everywhere. The photo shown are true representation of the property. But the thing we loved the most about our stay were the beautiful hosts Aldo & Rosa who were so wonderful and just spoilt us, it made our stay truly memorable.

The property is run by a very cute couple. They were extremely helpful and kind, they even served us traditional italian breakfast the next morning, made by them in their kitchen!!The room is super comfy and with traditional architecture, situated at the very heart of Matera. This was a truly magical experience, we highly recommend it to anyone visiting this unique city!!!!

Old house in the middle of old town Matera - del Sassi, very good and big room for 3 persons with beautiful view on historical buildings, excellent bads and bathroom. Excellent breakfast with local delicacies Mr. Aldo came to pick us up with his car in the city of Matera, showed us a free public parking spot and drove us back to the public parking lot the next day with his car. Mr. Aldo and his wife Rosa were very hospitable and friendly. Rate: 10/10

We loved everything.

The property was in a fantastic central location. We loved the character of the house and having the veranda was a real bonus for the wonderful Sassi views. Our hosts Aldo and Rosa were the most helpful, kind and generous couple. Aldo met us at the car park and drove us to the property pointing out places of interest on the way. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. We were even given extras for lunch to take away. It set us up for the day.
