Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

After a day on the streets, we always looked forward to coming home to Antico Portego. Loved our room and garden views. Friendly neighborhood with good restaurants and shops. United StatesOn a very hot day it feels like a decent walk from the train station. A few stairs to get up to. Room wasn’t completely ready upon arrival at 3pm. We didn’t have bath towels the first night and there wasn’t staff onsite so we had to use hand towels to dry off until our request was fulfilled the next day. Check out was weird without a staff there at the designated hours for check out so I had to call on whatsapp.
Fridge was very cold, champagne and soft drinks/water free of charge, clean space, room was big, air conditioner was excellent.

United StatesThere is no sign for the hotel, just faded address numbers above a very battered and dirty door. We thought we made a mistake. We called the number the previous owner gave us and got buzzed in. Construction debris was behind the door. No reception! Just an armoire with envelopes with names and keys. We thought it was an incredibly unprofessional, creepy and low security process!

United StatesThere were little ants crawling all over the floor next to the bed, we didn’t report it because we didn’t want them to spray bug spray in our room, so we kept stepping on them when we saw them.
The room was large and nicely decorated. What looked like an original grand house in the online pictures, was actually painted to look like 3D detailing on the ceiling and walls. It was a disappointing fake out! Even though they said they don’t provide breakfasts, we were pleasantly surprised to find coffee, packaged cookies and breads and juices to make up a decent breakfast.

United StatesManager was very insistent on knowing about our arrival to the point of asking me to call her several times. However, when I booked the property, I specifically asked for a room with two beds. Manager did not find it necessary in all the communication going on before our arrival to mention that they had changed all their rooms to combine single beds into larger beds and having a room with two beds as was pictured on the Booking site was no longer possible. Also, we were leaving early on our final day and I texted the manager the night before (not late) about paying the cash tax we needed to pay her and how she would like to handle - she never answered back. Just seemed like her communication style was very one-sided. She wanted me to comply with all her requests, but did not return the favor to communicate important matters with me.
Room was a good size. Location was good.

United StatesI wanted to love this stay but felt like we spent a lot for what we got. Our mattress was extremely uncomfortable. Every time you moved a spring popped. Had to sleep on the comforter and turn the air down since we sacrificed sleeping on the blankets. One of our windows didn't close all the way as the lock mechanism was broken and a lot of ants came in our room. We also booked with a balcony but the windows had a ledge I suppose one person could step on but it's not a usable balcony that you'd use. Glad we only stayed one night.
Anna the host was an absolute gem. Went out of her way to make us feel welcome and is fantastic with communication. Location is really easy to get around Veniza.

United StatesThe WIFI is terrible, I have to step put of the room for better signal although my room is only 30-40 feet away from the lobby. I have never seen any staff there which is weird. It saied breakfasts were included when I made reservation on Booking.com, but I was told there was no breakfast at all when I checked in. .

United StatesNo staff on hand to troubleshoot. It’s called a Bed and Breakfast to distinguish itself from a hotel. (But there is no breakfast….) And the “we’re not s hotel” thing means there is no staff for large portions of the day and night. An alarm was ringing for hours in the morning and there was no one to tell. (I emailed and called…) I’m sure the place is great if nothing goes wrong.
