Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalThe room can have some issues for those that are more sensitive in their sleep. If noise is an issue for you, the air-conditioner and the minibar can be a source of nuisance, but you can turn those off if you need. However, if you turn on the bathroom light, you also turn on an extremely noisy extractor fan, which can prove troublesome if you are travelling with someone, and they need to use the bathroom during the night. Light-wise, the room also has multiple lights that can be an issue for you, and the blinds are also need upkeep, so there's a chance your room brightens up when the sun comes up. The room size is okay, but the bathroom is quite cramped. Location-wize you are also a bit far from the city center, including a 30-minute drive from the airport. Finally, the hotel uses a key-system, and the key is left at the main desk every time you leave. Again, if you are travelling with someone, it can be bothersome to not have your own key to the room with you, seeing as sometimes I would get to the room only to find my friend in the bathroom and asking me to wait to get in. As such, I would say there are definitely some things Hotel Paolo can improve on, and the four-star rating is, in my opinion, an exaggeration.
Hotel Paolo is a good option if you don't mind staying away from the city center and/or have business in the outskirts of Napoli (such as attending a Napoli match). The price was good for the amount of nights we spent there, and it was close to the venue of the event we were attending. You can find multiple utilities close by, such as restaurants, transportation, even a hospital (you never know!), but the hotel only really suffers from the main road in terms of noise. If that road is quiet, your room should be quiet as well. The breakfast was nothing to write home about, but it was still good, and I doubt anyone will struggle to find at least one or two things to eat in the morning. The room was comfortable, but not amazing (more on that later). The shower was good, although small. The hotel also has a partnership with a restaurant down the street, and I would say the food there was quite good. Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you are planning on coming to Napoli on a budget and/or expect to spend a small amount of time in your room. It does its job, but it's not particularly remarkable.

United KingdomBreakfast was quite simple, although it did the job.
Excellent location for access to the football stadium, although not so close as to be inconvenienced by match day. Hotel feels safe & secure, and is very clean. Staff were helpful & spoke excellent English, Not too far from restaurants and bars.

PolandRooms are noisy - AC is loud (I had to turn if off), radiators in cold days are loud as well. Bathroom was small, shower cabin was around 30-40cm in width, I'm a skinny person and it was tight for me there.
Hotel is very clean and tidy, staff is really helpful, breakfast in the price and decent. Good if you are visiting Maradona Stadium or conventions at Mostra d'Oltremare

SpainA complete scam!!! it looks like a 1 star hotel more than 4 stars! terrible location, looks old and smells awful. We booked another hotel and left the same day after reading comments of people complaining about bedbugs! We lost almost 400€ for two nights. We had to walk so much to arrive, the hotel is located behind a big park with a zoo but you can't cross it directly.

United KingdomBedrooms small and pillows too hard. Breakfast was poor. Not much food left and was cold. Coffee was not particularly nice. Location was a long distance from any amenities, which was a problem arriving late as I was hungry and the hole offered no snacks, or food. Just water and some soft drinks.
Grateful there was someone on reception late at night, so I could get into hotel as my flight arrived late into Naples
