Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyBeds were too hard for my liking, but my friend slept like a log. No kettle in the room.
Nice hotel with a great breakfast spread. Staff were exceptionally friendly. Also, the location was great - right in the centre.

Australiawe were given single beds instead of a double. I think they had turned the power and heating off on the other floors that were not needed on the night we were there, so they did not have enough double beds. That was disappointing. Most of the staff were very helpful and friendly. there was one older guy, I think one of the owners, who was pretty nonchalant and seemed pretty disinterested when I asked him for assistance, and he just sat there and pointed his finger at the waitress, indicating I should ask her! It was only a minor thing and did not detract from our stay but he does not do the rest of the hotel any service. The only other disappointment was that the restaurant was closed on Sunday night when we were there and we were really looking forward to it as it is one of our favourites in the town.. It might be a good idea to make this known before guests book. Most of the restaurants are actually closed on Sunday night we found out, however we found one called Eleni, just off the main square of the old town centre and it was a find. The chef owner is a passionate chef and wine connoisseur. he ofered us a 4 course degustion menu that was extraordinary. he even threw in a couple of extra dishes for us to sample so it turned into a 6 course menu for Euro 55...excellent valuer and quality was Michelin grade
we have stayed at this hotel for years, whenever we are in Domodossola, so it is like a comfy slipper for us. The lovely old lady who is the owner is still there and is always so lovely to see her.

United KingdomUnfortunately the restaurant was booked out for both night of our stay so we had to go out for dinner, maybe Christmas parties so perhaps understandable at this time of year. We went to a local restaurant called Plaza de toro both nights and the meals were excellent.
We went for the Christmas market, the location could not have been better. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They were very busy when we arrived but as the stay went on we got to like the owners more and more - they seemed to care a lot.

United States. My one complaint is that the advertised air conditioning did not work. Nor did the fan work. I mentioned this to the manager and they indicated it would be examined. This would not have mattered if the weather had not been very hot (36-38 degrees C).
Location, staff, restaurant, the room and the fabulous view from the balcony. Really very nice. We had a delicious dinner in the garden. Staff were attentive in general and the ambiance was very nice. The location is extremely convenient in this lovely town. Railway is an easy 10 minutes walk. Charming.

SwitzerlandThere was no balkony as the room was on forth floor and there is no mini bar and not even a water bottle in the room. The personnel is not very welcoming or friendly, I was not provided with any additional information re breakfast time, or WiFi. My special request regarding plant based milk for breakfast was ignored but they had some as we found out in the morning. Language can be a challenge as several do not speak english. The breakfast did not contain a high variety, mostly croissants and sweet and packaged stuff, no fruits or dark bread available.
The room was nice and clean, with an amazingly comfortable bed.

Australiacan't think of anything. If the room had been a little bigger with space for an extra chair beyond the one the room would have had to be rebuilt- really it was just fine for 4 days for a couple - but for a couple of weeks for 2 people it would get a bit cramped. The bed was really comfortable too
Lavish breakfast with great unlimited coffee, croissants to die for plus selection of cereals, breads, cold meats, cheeses, eggs, jams of every variety, wonnderful town and mountain views out of both windows and both opened allowing lovely cross-ventilation Very comfortable bed, around the corner from the main regional shopping market in the plaza on Saturdays

AustraliaIt was a little ‘tired’. An example is that the monogrammed towels I had in my room were frayed. They were still functional as towels but at home I would have already replaced them with new towels.
The Hotel personnel was friendly and helpful. It had a good location for what I needed. It was clean. The breakfast buffet was good. The hotel personnel spoke several languages.
