Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IsraelWe spent one night here at the beginning of our Iceland trip. Motel style hotel. The room was basic, clean and met our needs, the beds comfortable, good shower. Our host was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with lots of choice and served from 7am.

GermanyClose to the airport and good to explore the Reykjanes and volcano area. Nice personal. We checked in at our first vacation day after arrival, had a nice soup for dinner right at the hotel and got up early to start our unforgettable volcano hike.

GermanyThe wifi could be stronger in the room but actually I remember it was good enough for a phone. Otherwise nothing to criticise.
Motel-like hotel close to the airport. Huge room sleeping six! No kettle in the room but one is welcome to use the samovar in the kitchen. Friendly staff.

BelgiumVery helpful and friendly owner, with Icelandic wit and economy of speech. Clean, simple rooms, of good taste. I had a shared bathroom which was kept very clean and did not miss at all a private one. Breakfast buffet is plentiful. Considering the prices in general in Iceland, the value for money of this hotel is fantastic. I would definitely stay again here. If you are a good walker, you can walk straight from the hotel to the Fagradasfjall volcano! At the kind request of the owner, hereby the instructions: Leave the hotel and head left down the road (south-west). Continue for about 700m until the end of the paved road, then head south-east on a dirt road for 100m to pass under the highway. Right after passing under the bridge you will see the start of the "SKOFV" path, marked by numbered orange poles every 50m or so. Follow it for about 2.5 hours, though incredible, moon-like landscapes, mostly flat. At around pole no. 124, you will find the first pole of another trail, "RAND". Follow RAND to the southeast, for about 2 hours, until you reach the usual volcano path that leads from the car parking to the viewpoints A/B. Then, follow the crowd. The whole hike from the Vogar Hotel to the final viewpoint of the volcano took me 5 hours, in total solitude and silence (well, apart from the last 30min in the volcano crowds). One of the best hikes in my life. Another tip for Iceland: The taxi fares are exorbitant. Don't hesitate to use the public buses, or hitch-hike. I hitch-hiked a lot, it may take some time but eventually some kind soul (usually Icelanders) will pick you up.

SwitzerlandSimple, economical hotel close the the pool in Vogar (which is open until 9pm in summer). Shared bathrooms were clean and pleasant. Very friendly man at reception. I mentioned I would need a taxi early the next day and he came to check that I had succeeded. He also let me know that the local restaurant was closed and offered an option to cook in the hotel.

United StatesNot really next door to anything. So location is great from perspective of Blue Lagoon and Volcano but the actual location is not great.
Wonderful Quiet Dark room! Family owned! Perfect for the day of arrival or the night before a morning departure. It is close to the Blue Lagoon and the active volcano. Much more reasonable price that many of the drab hotels in Keflavik. We actually drove into Reykjavik our first night in Iceland but parking is an extra $30/day. Fun to spend one night there but this place is family owned. Clean dark. And we got a private bathroom.

United StatesWish there were blackout curtains on the door. When you went from the bedroom into the entrance hall the light woke whoever was still sleeping. AND that's the absolute only thing I would add.
We chose to stay in an out of the way place instead of staying in Reykjavik. Vogar seemed the perfect spot. Sitting between the airport and Reykjavik, the stillness of the town was welcoming. The room was warm and welcoming. The bed very comfortable. There were blackout curtains, down duvets and down pillows. After the noise of NYC, it was wonderful to relax. Check in was simple and the gentleman at the desk, friendly.

AustraliaRoom was packed with furniture - was booked for 3 people but had 3 beds plus bunk beds along with a desk, a small table, 4 chairs and two cabinets plus 2 bedside tables and hardly any room to move or for suitcases. Felt like it was a storeroom for spare furniture. Bathroom smelt as entered the room and didn’t have an extraction fan. No fridge or coffee/tea facilities in the room.

United StatesSharing a bathroom. I didn’t realize it until afterwards. Also it is very expensive, even for Iceland for a basic room. Additionally it cost over $60 to get there with a taxi and it’s only 15 minutes from the airport. This isn’t the hotels issue but want people to know.
After arriving after 2:30 am, it was good to have beds to sleep in.
