Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalWhile the kitchen was well equipped enough, there was a lot of leftover food by previous guests. It wasn't spoiled, just untidy.
Very fast response from the staff when we had a question. They let us use the washing machine, which was really convenient. Bedroom was clean, comfy enough for a couple of nights, and the bathroom was really nice. While it's not located in a central area, it's very easy to get to the city center and there's a good supermarket just across the street.

AustraliaNothing, really.
Eva allowed us into our room early, which, after a early morning flight from Canada was greatly appreciated. The room was quiet and warm. Bed was comfortable. Kitchen was well-equipped and large enough for occupants of two rooms to prepare food. The dining area was a little cramped. Free parking 30 metres away at the end of the cul de sac. An easy 15-minute drive into Reykjavik.

GermanyThey could be there during the check-in and suggest things written in the instruction book.
It was a lovely, cozy apartment cum guesthouse located near the Mjodd bus stop in Reykjavík, Iceland. The owner provided a kitchen facility, but we were unaware of it. A self-check-in option was there, and detailed instruction was written on an instruction paper. A Netto supermarket (Google could not identify Netto as a supermarket) was next to the bus stop, and a couple of restaurants and shops were also there. The house is located ~9 km away from the city center. Visitors should keep in mind that public transport is frequently unavailable on Sundays.

NetherlandsThere were used/dirty towels in the bathroom for 3 days that were still not cleaned up. It is noisy when there are several guests present (3 rooms next to each other).
Regular rooms, look sober but neat. Note: There are 3 bedrooms for rent on the ground floor of a regular house in a quiet residential area. There is a shared living room, kitchen and bathroom/toilet.

AustraliaThe communal area felt quite chilly which isn't a big deal as it was just to go to bathroom, kitchen or leaving.
This guesthouse was incredibly comfortable. Checkin & Checkout were very easy, good communication. Location was very convenient with a little shopping centre 5mins away. We had a car which made going into Reykjavik easy but it would be easy to use buses also. Being in suburbia it was nice and quiet. Highly recommend Ubak Guesthouse

BulgariaThe common areas are really cold - kitchen, bathroom, dining place. The bedroom is spacious, but with tiny bed. Two can sleep, but it could be bigger. Some of the food left by other travelers in the fridge was way over its “best before” date. You should check carefully before eating/drinking.
It is a nice accommodation to book in the suburbs. With car to the Cathedral, where you can find free parking, is about 15 min. There is non stop Neto store 3 min walk. The room was specious and warm. Nice kitchen with excellent coffee machine. The hosts are welcoming and polite. They live upstairs.

United StatesThe bed pillow was very thin, which is a personal preference. Having a door to the kitchen would help block noise.
The layout and safety for the rooms was nice. The kitchen was well-equipped. The location was very close to a 24 hour Netto supermarket, which was great!

Czech RepublicThere are three rooms, each for two people, and only one bathroom - both WC and the shower in one space. Can cause queues
Very nice and clean room, also very nice and clean house. Close to a supermarket and a bus stop. Free parking at the end of the street (about 20m). Very easy to navigate here and also off Reykjavík. The room has curtains and blinds and it´s not a problem, sleeping there during 24h daylight was perfectly fine.

RomaniaSome curtains would have been useful with all the light that there is in the summer in Iceland. Also, why have a coffee machine with capsules and no capsules available.
