We arrived at an exceptionally poor weather (snow storm in June!) knowing that we may freeze in the cabin, the owner had kindly offered to let us stay in the apartment instead. (A free upgrade!) it was genuinely a great surprise and a lovely highlight amidst the bad weather

Our cabin was comfortable and charming. The location was great -- we loved the view from the cabin and it was very easy to walk everywhere in town. The area is beautiful and we greatly enjoyed our stay.

We had to eat breakfast in our room as there is no space in the kitchen area.

Our room overlooked the town and mountains which is very pleasant. We made our own breakfast at the property which worked out okay. There is a coffee machine and toaster available. The bathroom is very spacious. The entire property is well cared for and decorated nicely. The host gave us recommendations on where to eat in town,

AMAZING location that offered privacy but was only a few minutes walk from downtown and the coast. Our host was very welcoming and provided some excellent recommendations for dinner and breakfast. The room was the perfect size for us and the bed very comfortable. The shared bathroom was very clean and well maintained with all residents respecting the privacy of one another.

The Herring House was amazing! The rooms and house are very lovely and modern. We were fortunate to have the whole ground floor (and the bathroom) to ourselves, as only the cabins were booked up. It could be a bit tricky to manage the bathroom when all four rooms are booked. Helga was a wonderful host. The place was absolutely spotless and restful. We enjoyed the troll in the garden and exploring the gorgeous cemetery next to the house. This was one of our favorite stays in Iceland!!

Some wifi issues and couldn't get Netlfix to work but overall great stay.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apt at the Herring House. Helga was lovely, met us on arrival, and was available by text entire stay. The apt is beautiful, with everything you need for a relaxing stay. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped (except would have liked drip coffee maker vs. nespresso). Very modern, clean, and quiet. Washer and dryer is a plus. Scenic seaside town was perfect backdrop to this stay.

Honestly, couldn't find one fault. Everything exceeded expectations. The quiet and solitude of this northern Icelandic location was exactly what we were looking for. Will definitely be back in the future.

A truly exceptional stay at the Herring House in June. Owners Helga and Dagur were most kind and very helpful with info. Most comfortable bed in the world. (I'm not kidding). Our little private cabin was great and we loved the outdoor shower with a great view of the mountain!! An easy walk down the hill into the little town and the bakery is a great spot for breakfast. Just adored the Herring House and Siglufjordur in general. Already planning another trip to this wonderful location and can't wait to discover more. My new favourite place on earth.

This place was perfect. Everything was perfect. Helga was so nice. The cabin is pristine clean. Cozy bed and great decor. Hot tub was pure bliss. Cute town with cute brewery and decent restaurants. Honestly I would have paid more for this it was that nice! These are luxury cabins

Helga and Rugar were absolutely nice and friendly hosts! We decided to take one of the lovely cabins and have breakfast there. We were eating it in their living room and had a lot of fun and interesting conversation with them about living in iceland. We became many useful hints for visiting the town and pur further trip. Whenever we come back to iceland, we will return to Herring House.

We stayed in the 2-bedroom apartment and it was awesome! We just wish we could have stayed longer. It is HUGE and has an incredible view of the town and fjord. We were doing the Ring Road and this, by far, was our nicest accommodation! Helga met us when we arrived, and gave us lots of suggestions of things to do. My husband and sister-in-law visited the Herring Museum (highly recommended) and I went for a wonderful walk high on the hills with incredible views of the fjord. My husband and I are huge fans of the Icelandic series, Trapped, so we were excited to see all the filming locations and Helga pointed out some we may have missed! On a side note, the actor who played Andri, stayed in our apartment during filming -- okay, we are nerds! But we were so glad we visited Siglufjordur. We would love to go back and do more exploring.
