Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FinlandThe hotel was under renovation when we stayed there, especially the lobby and the corridors. Our room was otherwise good, but there wasn't any wardrobe or coat rack, you couldn't hang your coats anywhere. The person serving breakfast didn"t seem very friendly, she didn't greet or pay any attention to the guests.
The hotel is located in the centre of Reykjavik, so everything is within walking distance. The room was clean and spacious and it was also silent. The self check-in worked well. The hotel had a good breakfast.

Czech RepublicThe hotel is undergoing renovation, the corridors are a mess, workers. Loud noise from the next room during the day. Another building is under construction next to the hotel, so again more construction noise. Confusing info about breakfast - the booking says no breakfast, the hotel has a sign that all reservations include breakfast, the hotel replied when asked that they do not currently offer breakfast... Overall, the location of the hotel is not very nice.
For overnight stay was ideal, after the renovation of the hotel the situation will be better. Free parking nearby. Coffee from the vending machine available at all times.

United StatesThe property was under renovation. It was not loud when I was in the room as I was gone most of the time. But it was messy. And I had to slam my door to get it to close. Also they only have a coffee machine downstairs, not on each floor.
Good location. Breakfast was good. We had a larger room with a view which was nice.

NetherlandsUnfortunately, my experience was not as pleasant as I had hoped. Despite receiving several messages from the hotel before my arrival, none of them mentioned the ongoing construction. The construction site in front of the building started work around 8 AM, waking us up each morning. Additionally, the hotel's lobby and several rooms were under construction, further contributing to the inconvenience. This crucial information could have been easily communicated in the pre-arrival messages. Another minor issue was that the television did not work, which added to the overall disappointment.
The rooms themselves looked okay and will probably be quite nice once the construction is completed. Despite the issues, a notable positive aspect was the fast response from the staff. When I sent a message to refresh the towels, which were not replaced on the first day, the staff responded quickly and provided prompt service.

FranceWork in progress in the building and around so can be noisy during the day. But not a problem if you are visiting the capital since it’s still quiet after 6pm

UkraineHowever, I didn't expect the hotel to be renovated on the first floor, with all the noise, stranger workers, dust, and inconvenience. Also, construction was going on across the street every day from 7 a.m., which made my time at the hotel much worse.
I liked the hotel itself and the location. There was a lot of space in the room, a comfortable bed. The breakfasts were okay, but nothing super special.

NetherlandsFirst, they sent too many e-mails before arrival. Even to follow them in social media! Then, I received an e-mail with the room information, which was wrong. Everything is done by messages, no human contact. The code machine in the entrance is not easy, you have to press multiple times the code to finally work. Most importantly, they changed the room without notifying. I was trying to enter another room and then called them to help with this. Moreover, the new room was not the room I had booked. I wanted a double bed, and I got two single ones. When I mentioned this on the phone to the staff that helped with giving me the right room number, she said that this was an upgrade! She said it was because I had booked the budget double room, and this one was bigger, but I wanted a double bed, therefore this is not considered an upgrade. Last but not least, they kept mentioning in the e-mails the super friendly and helpful staff, but in the hotel there was no one. The reception was being renovated, and instead of having someone somewhere else temporarily, there was no one to be found.
The room was very clean. Fast response on the phone and polite and helpful assistance by phone. 15-min walk to downtown. Clear instructions about parking in the area. Good breakfast.

AustraliaI was given the wrong room number to start with, which was inconvenient trying to open the wrong room. No reception at this hotel so I had to phone the emergency number to sort out the room number, which was eventually sorted. The hairdryer was very dangerous, making a very bad noise and burning hot which overheated and cut out. I showed the house keeping lady and she took out away. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Overall, a pretty good stay.
Very comfortable bed, clean room. Breakfast room was lovely, food selection was excellent.

United KingdomThe room was very hot when we first arrived and was still very warm even after changing the radiator temperature and opening the window. Strangely there were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room (not sure if this in an Iceland 'thing' or just this hotel but I'm used to even a budget hotel having a kettle and a cup in the room), it seemed a long way to stumble downstairs in the morning for a coffee and the stuff from the machine was pretty awful.
Check in was straightforward. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice and variety. The shower was very good, water a good temperature and very powerful. Bed was comfortable with plenty of bedding. Location is okay - a bit of a walk into the centre but not too far. Hotel and surrounding streets were quiet.

United KingdomThe TV in our room didn’t work, no signal. We didn’t really need the TV anyway so didn’t try and resolve it. The hotel was lacking in facilities information. For example, there was no information on who/how to contact anyone if we needed too or information regarding breakfast.l, how to access laundry/dry cleaning etc. It would be great to have a leaflet of information. Under facilities, there was some misinformation *it states docket next to bed, however this was not the case. *it states there is a wardrobe or closet, again there was none in the room I had. I don’t think the pictures reflected the room that I had. The room was quite dark and the windows were high so couldn’t see outside.
The information before check in, was perfect. Great information regarding parking, along with a video to look. Auto check in was great and so easy. Very handy location and makes the route to the city centre is great. WIFI was great in our room. We only ate breakfast and this was ok. Nothing special really but it was good to have this included. Shower was very powerful. I think it will look great after the refurb.
