We loved the surroundings, but the hotel was very far from the airport, and getting there was a long cab ride. However, we think that the renovations of Cochin roads (ongoing when we visited) will make the hotel more accessible in the future. Although the spa staff treated us very well and we enjoyed the treatments we received, it is true that the ambiance could be improved a bit. It would also be great to have sun loungers in the pool area.

Staying at Uday Backwater Resort was overall a very relaxing experience. We loved the aesthetics and how well maintained all the common areas were, with special guests (various species of birds). The views of the backwaters from the gardens gave the hotel a spectacular atmosphere, and the pool area was very enjoyable. The staff was always willing to help us and treated us with great kindness. The restaurant inside the hotel had a great variety of local dishes and the taste was very good. The rooms were very comfortable and well equipped. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The approach road is bad. And there's no other option around for food....so it's boring to have to compulsorily eat at their restaurant all the time.

The rooms and ambience was good. The high tea overlooking the backwaters was awesome.

The food is quite expensive and portion size was small, however food was delicious.

The swimming pool water was very warm. Not offered to purchase any drinks with the meal, strange as we would have been happy to buy soft drinks.

Lake location and well maintained interesting gardens with wildlife. Lovely rooms. Buffet dinner was a good spread of local food.

The windows are facing the lake and pool, nice views but there are no blinds on the windows, just curtains. You feel you don't have much privacy if you stay on the lower floors, unless you close the curtains.

Uncomfortable pool lounges and not many of them. Zero alcohol. Would have been nice to have a glass of wine with dinner.

Cost 700 rupee to get a taxi from the train station to the resort. Asked hotel to arrange a taxi from the resort to the train station. Cost 1200 rupee. Taxi driver said the hotel added cost. Not sure if that was true but either way, ended our experience with hotel badly. If it wasn't true, then the hotel should be more careful about picking drivers. If it was true, then that was a very expensive phone call the hotel made.

It sometimes felt as though we were only being sold what the hotel had to offer. We asked for advice on getting a canoe to travel the backwaters and were told no only a big boat from the hotel would be suitable for us.

The hotel was beautiful and offered very good amenities. The restaurant offered tasty food. Generally staff were very friendly.

The property is beautifully laid out and very well maintained. Rooms are spacious, clean, well furnished, and comfortable. The view from the Lake View rooms is fabulous. Adding to the overall experience is the extremely well trained staff who were always courteous and responsive. Special mention to Sandhya, Vishnu, and Prashant. Will definitely consider staying there again.
