Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe had a lovely stay at Thankgop House with Mrs. Dolma and her son. They were both very helpful, kind, and welcoming. They always made sure we knew what we were doing, and took the time to speak with us whenever we had questions. Thangkop House is a 10min walk from the main city market, which is great as we could get away from the hustle and bustle when we wanted to. We stayed in a wonderful room on the top floor with lots of windows overlooking trees. Thank you Dolma and Wang!

SpainThe location is aprox 20 min away from Main Bazaar and the central area. Those 20 min of walk are done on Fort Road, which sometimes has a lot of traffic, so it’s not always a nice walk. Of course this allows the place to be peaceful and silent, and it’s nothing the staff could change, but sometimes feels like “ouf, again”
We stayed three different times throughout our stay in Ladakh because: -The room was spacious, clean and sunny. The views were beautiful and so was the room itself. All this makes that the room was a nice place to spend time. -The toilet worked good, so did hot water. -Apart from some eventual dog barking or music night in the town area, the place was silent. -The staff (Dolma, Wang) were super nice to us at all times. We had talks about culture and society. They helped us book taxis, create travel routes and decide destinations, and we lended from them trekking poles and cooking gas. We could leave bags at the house during our trekking weeks and pick them up after. Breakfasts were simple and good, house-made by Dolma. The second and third times we went there, we felt like we were coming back home. Definitely the place we will come back to if we go back to Ladakh.

FranceAll was perfect
Thangkop is the best guesthouse I experienced in the JK and Ladakh area. First the house is very welcoming, lovely and especially quiet. Nice garden in the front. Then the family who runs this guesthouse is an amazing family. The mummy is very friendly and sweet ( even the son and the young guy from Nepal). Breakfast is delicious and generous. The room is big enough for a couple, with geyser in the bathroom. The mattress is soft and comfy. I triple highly recommend this stunning guesthouse

AustriaThere was nothing I disliked. I have only a small suggestion: Some hooks on the wall for hanging jackets, or a piece of furniture where one can put some clothes would have made my room even more comfortable.
Thangkop House is a typical traditional Ladakhi guesthouse with basic but clean rooms. A great plus was the hot water supply which was very reliable. There's also a small green garden area where you can sit and relax. What I liked most was the nice atmosphere at breakfast when travellers from all over the world sat together and shared their stories. The owner of the guesthouse, Dolma, is an extremely kind and helpful person, and she can tell you much about Ladakhi culture and society if you are interested.

SwitzerlandWe had a great stay at Dolma & Wong's home. They are very friendly, fulfilling all your needs. We've been there several times during our stay in Ladakh, rooms were always clean, well maintained and very quiet. Breakfast was simple but suited perfectly our taste (bread, butter, peanutbutter, jam, coffee and tea). Wong is very helpful when it comes to planning of any trekks, hiring motorbikes or booking a taxi. Thanks a lot for having us!
