The Guesthouse was perfect. Very clean and comfortable rooms. The first room was without A/C (that's what I booked), but since it was so hot I was able to change to a room with A/C. It was no problem at all. The common area were also very nice, but most of the time I was out and about. It's not in the center of Fort Kochi, but still everything is walkable. The neighborhood is very lively and safe. The best of all was the mother-daughter-combo, who is running the guesthouse. Both of them were wonderful people, very helpful, were interested in their guests and very supportive by any means. I stayed for 5 days and felt at home. Thank you so much for your hospitality. Cheers, Myra

As per other reviews the address differs from the one online. Not a major issue but something to be considered if arriving by taxi/bus. Cash only but this isn't unusual.

Great authentic breakfast. Comfortable and clean. Great central location yet set off the road so very peaceful.

If you travel during hot season you must book an AC room because the non AC rooms (fan only) isn't sufficient (imo). I usually avoid AC but at this moment of the year (March) it was unbreathable.

The location is perfect, the family/owners very professional, friendly, with good advises. The habitation is modern and traditional at the same time, new and clean, with good taste decoration and well furnished. Good local breakfast too. Calm, with a pleasant garden/yard. Great neighborhood. I loved staying there and I will be back. You can go with the eyes closed.

    Everything was great

It's a nice quiet location in the network of smaller streets, not far from local restaurants. The owner Sheethal is an exceptional host, always looking out for her guests. Every morning there was home cooked breakfast which was tasty and an introduction to simple local foods. The rooms were comfortable and with a good size. There is also a kitchen and a common area which is a good place to hang out and meet other guests. You can really see the love and effort that has been put into this place and it really felt like home.

Nothing - it was all fantastic

I loved staying at Kovil. It was the first place I stayed, on my first ever trip to India, and it was a magical start to my trip. Mother and daughter hosts Usha and Sheethal went above and beyond to make my stay a happy and comfortable one. Usha's food was plentiful and absolutely delicious, and she's just so friendly and kind. Sheethal speaks fantastic, fluent English and was always super speedy to respond to my messages and help me with anything I needed (travel, gift- buying, sari-tying!!). Totally recommend staying with this lovely family. And the house is right in front of a temple where there was a huge festival when I stayed in early March - highly recommended. Ooh and they've got great, hi- speed wifi, so I was also able to work and study from here.

This is a beautiful new building, with stylish rooms and a lovely shared area where you can meet other travellers. The location is handy for both Fort Cochi and the Jewish area - with a bus stop nearby. What really makes it is the hosts, who welcome you like a friend. Delicious breakfasts too.

The mattresses are too soft but that's often the case in India. Shame there is no filtered water tank!

Very cute place in Fort Kochi, quiet with a nice terrace. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the hosts very sweet. I arrived at 4am delayed by 2 hours and they waited for me! I said I did kalari training so they arranged for me to go see a local show happening, which was great!

From the first second of arrival, I could tell that KOVIL is a wonderful, homely and peaceful place to stay in - newly renovated and beautifully and modernly designed with such care and taste by Sheethal. She runs the place together with her family and is such a wonderful, smart, interesting and warmhearted person, who shared a lot of tips for exploring Fort Kochi and cultural insights with me. The area is perfect - within quiet backstreets and just a short walk to the main sights in Fort Kochi including the beachfront, and Jew Town. Everything was super clean and you can use the kitchen and fridge if you want. Breakfast was delicious, freshly and homely made by Sheethal’s mother, and served at a small table for all guests together so you can easily get to know each other and chat if you feel like it. Wish I could’ve stayed longer than just for one day in the area but I’d definitely love to come back (I’d probably choose an AC room then as it does get very hot even with a fan) - 10/10 can recommend, thank you! :)

The homestay is very neat and tidy and is in a perfect location: in the village area so you live more like a local but within a few minutes walking distance to the tourist sites of Fort Kochi. The owners offered great suggestions about where to eat and helped me book an excellent backwater boat tour. I was here for 7 days and everyday breakfast was different and delicious and was served with fresh fruit. I like that breakfast was served at the same time so all the guests got to eat together and chat in the morning.
