Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IndiaWe liked everything.
Surrounded by verdant greenery, this homestay offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Alok, our host, was always readily available, he greeted us with warmth and provided us with a plethora of suggestions to make the most of our time in the area. The accommodation itself was delightful. Our room was spacious and thoughtfully furnished, providing ample space for relaxation. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, guaranteeing a restful night's sleep after a day of exploration. Additionally, the availability of hot water round the clock was a welcome convenience. One of the highlights of our stay was the impeccable care provided by the caretakers, Leena and Fatima. The food served at the homestay was nothing short of sumptuous. Prepared with love and using fresh, local ingredients, each meal was a culinary journey in itself. However, what truly sets this homestay apart is its idyllic setting. If you're seeking a peaceful retreat amidst nature's splendor, look no further than this charming homestay.

United KingdomWe didn’t like leaving!
This is by far the BEST HOMESTAY we have stayed in whilst travelling in India. The room was lovely, very spacious with nice bathroom. The bed was comfortable with clean fresh bedding. The homely touches around the place made it feel extra special. The location is amazing, up in the hills surrounded by tea plantations and nature where you can go for nice treks or just sit and watch the world go by whilst listening to the birds. The very best thing about this place though is the host, Mr Alok, who is so friendly, so welcoming and so helpful. He took us on a morning trek up the mountain to watch the sunrise and also to a local river for a picnic. We met some of his local family friends which was so humbling. We had a campfire at night in the garden with a chance to just relax and chat. If you’re looking for a nice, peaceful getaway where you will be made to feel at home then just book Ghar Homestay - you won’t be disappointed. Thank you so much for the best 3 days we have had in India.

IndiaThe staff, the space and rooms and overall Mr. Alok and his hosting abilities are gracious and welcoming. The overall welcoming nature, the "feeling of Oneness" with the guests enhanced the experience. We also explored the nearby natural hills in an early morning trek and were flabbergasted by the morning sunrise over the valleys through the team estates. The food offered is reasonable and very homely and simple, flavorful and easy to enjoy.

It was a great experience. With the peak of a hill right in front of you, in the mids of the tea plantation, cloudy and misty weather is a perfect place for relaxation. The scenic view was awesome and made us to enjoy the stay. Never ending sound of birds was so rhythmic. We booked a glass house, people who wants to enjoy nature as it is, it's a best view room. Felt the cold and chill weather. Both sunrise and sunset were mind-blowing. My pet enjoyed thoroughly. Food was delicious. It was rustic and a pleasant stay. This is my first stay right in front of peaky hills. The drive was adventurous. (Do not take a short route of google maps, its rough). Mr. Alok was kind and took care of us. The staffs made us comfortable. Will visit again. Overall, I would strongly recommend trying this place at least once.

IndiaIf you are looking for an offbeat place in Ooty which is away from the city hustle bustle, this is the best homestay. It's right in the middle of tea gardens and you'll get amazing 360 degree views. Perfect for nature lovers. The rooms are clean and the food is amazing as well. The staff is very helpful and polite. Special thanks to the host, Alok for an amazing barbeque dinner and showing me the most picturesque location of that area.

IndiaReaching the location was a nightmare without any landmark as the map just kept on rerouting on its own due to confusion. They didn't have a card machine or any option to pay by credit card. Suggest, keep a card swiping device.
Location is very good as it's away from the actual town and in the middle of estate. House helpers are very kind and helpful. People who prefer to have a unique and serene experience would like it.

The Terrasse is Great! Alok (owner) and Lina are very kind people. Room was normal but clean and everything worked. You have to know that it is quite a “trip” to get to Coonoor, the good thing about that is that it’s quite and in between tea gardens :)

IndiaGhar was the one of the off-beat homestays that I have visited in recent times. Situated in Hubbathala (Connoor), the stay has the best views and vibes. The room was clean and spacious with a good Wi-Fi connection. The staffs were friendly and cooked us the best homemade breakfast and dinner (suggest you not to miss the dosa and chicken curry). You can do a quick hike nearby or take a stroll in the lush green tea plantation during the morning. Mr. Alok is a super cool host who helped us with our requirements without any hassle. He has a good knowledge about the local spots one can visit during the stay. Overall, Ghar give me the perfect ambience and if you are someone looking to do 'Work from Mountains' and enjoy your time, Ghar is the place for you!

IndiaGhar as named , truly loves to stay here in a relaxing environment. Alok and the team were so nice and friendly with our pet Pruno. Pruno was so happy there as he was roaming without a leash in the backyard with his new friend Mani ( she is ghar's pet). Even we have seen Bison 🦬 in backyard almost every day morning while we went to walk around 6 am. The food made by Rekha was delicious. Even on Ganesh chaturthi they made Prasad which was delicious and homely. We had Ramfal after a long time. Pruno received a surprise gift from Alok n team. He loves it so much. Thanks to Ghar's team for a calming and relaxing holiday.
