Loved the cleanliness and comfort at Salmon Weir. Everything was perfect. Modern appliances and showers. Rachael had a substantial and delicious breakfast ready in the mornings and gave us helpful sightseeing suggestions. The decor is beautiful, with comfortable furniture and beds. All in all, a warm and cozy home to enjoy while in Ireland.

The breakfast was wonderful. The house is lovely, and comfortable. The bedrooms and bathrooms are cozy, quiet and clean. Rachel, the owner, is very accommodating and friendly. We feel so fortunate to have found Salmon Weir for our stay in Cong.

Nothing! I came here first with a few friends for a conference and it was so fab that I brought my mum with me the next trip 5 months later!

I’ve stayed here twice now. The house is beautiful, the rooms so spacious and nicely decorated and comfortable beds and fluffy towels! What is not to love!

Driving out of the property can be a little stressful because it’s tough to see oncoming traffic. Rachael has installed a mirror, which is helpful.

During a ten day roadtrip, Salmon Weir was by far our family’s favorite accommodations. The beautiful property, which is walking distance to everything Cong has to offer, was just perfect. Breakfast each day was varied and delicious. Rachael was attentive and we genuinely enjoyed getting to know her. Cong is such a special place, and Salmon Weir provided a fantastic way to experience it.

The breakfast was varied, plentiful and delicious - we all loved Rachel's cooking! Originally built by the Guinness family as a fishing lodge, the setting is exquisite - a completely restored stone bed and breakfast on the edge of the River Cong. The owners maintained its historic charm throughout even with the renovations and modernization. It was a perfect place to relax and sleep, yet an easy two minute walk to the pubs and shops in the quaint village of Cong.

What can we say about about Salmon Weir Lodge beyond exceptional?!! Rachel went above and beyond to meet every need we had. The hot breakfast delights she added were way beyond our expectations...she's always trying new things, thinking of ways to serve better and has a never-ending commitment to keep improving and serving. Have no doubt this will be the best place place near Cong to stay.

Stayed here for my second year in a row with some friends and just like last year everything exceeded our expectations. Rachel looked after us as always and put on an incredible home baked breakfast with everything you could imagine. The location is idyllic overlooking the river and only a few hundred metres into the quaint village of Cong, which has a great selection of local gastro pubs. Will be back again next year!

Salmon Weir Lodge offers the best accommodation in Cong. The Lodge is beautiful and has a stunning seating area by the Weir to enjoy in the good weather. The beds are extremely comfortable, rooms very spacious and the shower is perfect. Rachel puts on an amazing spread for breakfast, mixing it up every morning with freshly prepared baked goods, fruit, yogarts and so much more. A wonderful host, a delightful stay. We'll be sure to return and recommend Salmon Weir Lodge to our friends.

    We honestly can't fault anything.

We loved everything about our stay. We've stayed in very good hotels all around the world that really don't match up to what Rachael has managed to build here. The design and decor is so warm and welcoming, it's immaculately clean, it's in an amazing location which makes it perfect for days trips and the gem on top is Rachael's hospitality. Plenty of food for breakfast, plenty of parking and even a place for us to store our bikes. It's a 5 minute walk into town and a small walk to Ashford Castle and other local sights. It really was a perfect stay and very good value for money.

The host was Rachael very kind, the room was very clean, the beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was very good. Cong is a charming village at the gates of the Connemara where you can find restaurants, bars, a beautiful forest to walk in. It is also famous for the movie The Quiet Man. To sum up it was a perfect stay.

This property was one of the best we have stayed in in this village. It was clean , comfortable and warm. The host, Rachel , was super friendly and provided a delicious breakfast both mornings. There is also a hot drinks station for guests to use and a comfortable lounge where you can sit and watch TV. Rachel was kind enough to make us a pot of tea on arrival and gave us delicious cake to eat with it.

The high bed with too many cushions

The breakfast was outstanding, large range of fresh fruits, juices, cereals, savoury tarts, hot if required, quality pastries. The views from our windows upstairs over the garden & trees. The stone fence in the yard was on the edge of the river with ducks swimming around. The hostess was generous with the use of her sitting room.
