Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomIt would have been good to have a kettle and some mugs. Only water and two glasses were provided. The doors were very loud when closing so you could hear other people moving around

United StatesI know this place doesn’t falsely advertise having WiFi. But people don't even look if the place have wifi because it's a basic requirement for any traveller. Also don't think it's close to Galway city, it's about 1.4 kilometers from the city center.

IrelandThe only thing was there was no kettle or tea or coffee.
Nice room with electric blinds with good bathroom and shower facilities. This place has electronic locks that give access to the room and premises. I had to book this place quickly as I was visiting someone in the hospital late at night. I was able to book quickly and easily. You check in online with a few details.

IrelandOnly downside was we were awoken at 9.30am by other guests banging on the outside door as their door code wouldn't allow them back in. I had to get up and go downstairs and open door for them .
It was very clean. Comfortable bed.. Lovely bathroom, great shower.. the location was very good.. Gaining entry to room was by a code , which was both text and emailed to me in advance of our stay and everything went smoothly with it.

IrelandThe bed wasn’t great but the room was warm so I rectified the situation by sleeping on top of the duvet cover which made the bed more comfortable then used the throw as a light blanket.
I enjoyed my two day stay here. It’s a nice location and convenient to busses, University of Galway and the hospital. It’s a 15/20 minute walk to Eyre Square. There is also a bus opposite Mocha Beans. The cafe was nice and I had a nice bowl of soup while waiting for the 2:00pm checkin and a nice cup of tea when I left. The accommodation is a basic box room. There is a cupboard where you can store clothes and there’s a carafe of water and a glass in the cupboard. There’s no window but there is a skylight where you can adjust the blind depending on your light preference. The bathroom was clean and the shower worked well. I had a problem with the door lock but it was fixed quickly after a phone call.

IrelandAs it was listed on the website as having parking (one of our criteria for picking accommodation) we arrived in our van expecting there to be spaces available to guests of the B&B, but when we arrived we found the small car park full with cafe customers which meant we had drive around looking for other parking nearby. We called and the man said it was first come first served for parking so we ended up waiting until the evening to park the van outside.Added a wee bit of stress. I am aware now that spaces are limited so I think if the parking situation was mentioned on the website that would be ideal. Otherwise, no complaints!
Accessing the room was simple and hassle free, and the room itself was very comfy. We especially liked the luxurious bed and good shower. We also had coffee and porridge in the cafe and found it very satisfying.

Germanytea/coffee kettle. You have your own bathroom but not ensuite and -that´s a problem- you have no key for the bathroom. Everybody could use it.
It is a 20 min walk to the city centre or you have the possibility to take a bus (10 min drive). Easy check in per email and code. Ok for its money.

United KingdomAutomatic door closers on the bathroom and bedroom doors are set to be far too stiff and are very hard to open, these can be easily slackened off. Shower waste is slow and doesn't drain fast enough and after 1 minute in the shower, you have to turn shower off to let the water drain away before it spills out over the shower tray and onto the floor.
Nice little room with newly fitted bathroom opposite corridor. Good communication from the host re door codes and access etc. Free parking. Very quiet.

New ZealandThat even thou parking was free, during the day you couldn't get a park if you left as the cafe was busy. Maybe convert the area where the bins are to parking for guests.

Italy- Cold water for shower because someone turned off the heat (we solved calling the host, the day after the same) - Private bathroom not ensuite - not enough toilet paper but the store room wasn't accessible because of the missing handle - very little space in the room
- Located at 20 minutes walking from city center - Bar under the accomodation for a quick coffee in the morning - Good price - Private and comfortable bathroom

AustraliaRoom was very small. Barely room for bags and to move around. We tried to be very quiet going in and out of the bathroom (not connected to room) but the doors are very loud closing. Felt sorry for the others next to us.
Room was clean. Bathroom was clean. Location was a good walakble distance to main restaurants and bars etc. It's not advertised but you also get a discount on coffee at the Cafe. We didn't know this. A good little bonus. The ladies at the cafe were very friendly.
