Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandFor the price we paid for one night were expecting this B&B to be of a higher standard. Photos on booking.com make it look much nicer than it is. Very run down! Greeted with an old musty smell on arrival. Power in the shower was very weak.
Location was good. Close to a nearby wedding we were attending. View was nice from the room. Breakfast was ok.

New ZealandWe felt the owners were just being a bit "tight" with everything. No tea or coffee in the room, we had to ask for it. No bath mat or hand towels, we had to ask for it. Toilet seat was loose and wobbling everywhere, we had to ask for a screwdriver to tighten it up. That's OK, our requests were all actioned happily and the value for money was still good, but let's say the emphasis on cost reductions were just a little too visible.
Lovely view of the river from our room. And the location was close enough for us to walk home from the inner city after a night out. Great parking out the back of the property too. Breakfast was good, I recommend the pancakes.

The property was close to town so you could walk there. Also not too close as to be disturbed by party people. Staff was also fantastic!

IrelandI guess there were a few stains on the paint on the inside door handle to our room. The toilet paper holder fell off when I touched it, but it was a simple tightening fix.
Mary and her staff were lovely and helpful. We were at a wedding in a hotel next door, and sort of felt like tip toeing home to my mother's house at 2am, when we came home. A really nice family vibe to the place.

IrelandThe door in the room doesn't close completely (it slides across the doorway). Not a problem for me and my partner, but was a bit embarrassing (We just wore headphones when the other wanted to go). Be very careful with your key. There isn't a replacement key available. If you lose it there isn't a way to lock your room. This isn't a complaint at all. Just a warning not to do what i almost did.
The staff where so helpful and friendly! I lost my key and they where understanding (i eventually found the key which we all had a laugh about 😅). There where only 4 options on the breakfast menu but they where good options. I think my partner would have liked if her fried egg wasn't runny, but the staff where so helpful in getting her something else. The bed was cosy and the room was clean. And it was so close to the venue for the concert we where attending!

United KingdomThe room was very poor, the adaptation to provide an en-suite was badly constucted and it's sliding door could not close completely. No hand towels or tea and coffeemaking facilities were provided as standard, although, on request, the staff provided these. The room was poorly furnished and everything about it was very tired. Whilst WiFi was available in the property it did not work in our room
The staff were very friendly and helpful and did their best to make up for the poor room facilities. The breakfast was good and again the staff were friendly.

IrelandWe were staying for 4 nights and paid nearly 700 euro and the room we were given was disgraceful for that money. The photos on the website were nothing like the room we were given. As the property was full we had no other choice but to take it and it wasn't until the last night we were given a better room.
The location of the property was good as we were attending the INEC for the weekend. Neida who works on the staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fine.

CanadaThe rooms were very bare bones. No hand soap, no bath mat. Only one small towel bar for hanging two wet towels was not ideal. Rooms are quite dated and mattresses are well worn. The wifi is available, although only in the lounge and likely front few rooms. It did not reach our room at the back at all.
The location is good. Beautiful view of the river, and still a very easy walk into town. Breakfast was very good. Parking was easily available. Friendly staff.

IrelandThere was no hand towels, hand soap in the bathroom. No mirror in bedroom. Uncomfortable double bed. We were advised that breakfast was 8-10 am. We arrived shortly before 10am to be told last orders for breakfast was 9:30. They could offer us coffee, toast or pancakes. We were very disappointed as we could have gone down earlier but took our time showering etc. Overall disappointed but location was great.

AustraliaOverpriced at 170 Euros a night for us as couple for bed and breakfast. While the bed was comfortable, it was a double bed pressed against the wall. There was no top sheet and the doona cover was loose and revealed hairs and spotty stains on the doona. The bathroom had poor privacy from the walkway outside the big bathroom window and from the public bridge to the side of the premises, which carries pedestrians and vehicles. A full shower curtain was used as a privacy curtain over the bathroom window and poorly covered the large window with gaps on both sides. This raised concerns that we could be seen sitting on the loo, in the shower or brushing our teeth. We thought our silhouette could be made out from outside when the light was on, so we showered and used the bathroom in the dark. There were long strands of dark hair on a couple of the bathroom tiles, when neither my husband nor I have that colour hair. The fluorescent tube in the shaving mirror was missing. The shower did not drain well so you had to stand towards the far side of the recess. The toilet seat did not fit the toilet so when you sat down it moved to one side or another. The carpet was dirty in parts. There were no coffee or tea making facilities in the room. There was no tv in the room. Hot breakfast included only one of 4 items printed , either Irish hot breakfast, porridge, pancakes, or scrambled eggs. There were no cereals, or buffet items which you see everywhere else. No orange juice was served. I did not eat my pancakes as the plate they were on imparted a stale egg smell. My husband did not eat his scrambled eggs as they tasted funny. Our breakfast was toast and jam. We travel widely and more recently across much of Ireland and this experience was unprecedented and pitiful considering the charge of 170 Euro.
The location was good and the hostess Mary was charming and exceedingly helpful as was the staff.
