Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

IrelandPlace was a little noisy this morning while I was trying to sleep before the conference - unsure if they had some very loud other guests or if the walls were thin! A very minor complaint in an otherwise wonderful stay in Galway, would recommend for location, cleanliness and parking. Will use again during next visit to Galway without a doubt!
Lovely guesthouse great location. Very close to university and hospital - all on Newcastle Road. Easy access to main town area. Chatty and friendly host who gave me lovely welcome and showed me around. Comfortable en suite room which was clean and nice and warm. Lots of treats such as hot chocolate , tea and a mini fridge in the room. Clean bathroom with lots of little soaps. Great parking facilities and location for my conference , happy to let me store the car on site for the day - overall very good b and b !

IrelandRoom extremely tiny and I heard noises from the people coming and going and shutting the doors until 4am. It kept me awake almost for a whole night. Too expensive for what I got.
The owner very friendly, and the place not too far from the hospital and center.

GermanyThe house seems a bit dated and the entrance hall unfortunately smells of stale smoke. Getting rid of that smell would help a lot as it is the first impression you get.
Location is perfect, just 5 minutes walking and you are in the center. There is free parking and the mini fridge in the room was super nice. The owner is super friendly and happy to give tipps.

IrelandJust one thing. As my clean, comfortable room was in front of the house, it would be better to have a voile curtain on the window for privacy.
A lovely warm welcome by James, even though I had to arrive later. We had an interesting chat about the gorgeous original paintings in the hallway and throughout. (not for sale, lol) Kettle, Tea and Coffee in my room, a priority for me.

IrelandParking is a squeeze, and the road can be congested during peak times, but I managed. Perhaps if you are driving a large vehicle this might be an issue.
Excellent location, half-way between the city centre and the Salthill promenade [both walking distance]. The area is also quiet [away from the revellers in town]. The owner is friendly and knowledgable.

BelgiumI had to wait a little while to have someone answer at the door when I first arrived, which worried me. There was no breakfast included, conversely to what was indicated on Booking.com; it was one of the reason I had booked this room. The room itself could have been cleaner: the furniture was a little dusty, the floor not vacuumed. The bathroom was clean, though.
The person taking care of the B&B was friendly and helpful. The room is tiny but okay, and includes a fridge. Localization is great, I was in the city center in less than 20 minutes walking.

CanadaSound does carry. This is not a complaint but it is an older house and does happen.
Very friendly and helpful owner who will let you know where to go for good food, drinks, and night out. 15-20 minute walk from the bus station. Good place for people who are not planning on being around much except to sleep.
