Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe flies? Well, we were warned by all the reviews and it was not really that bad. We could still enjoy being outside, no problem. It maybe depends on the period of the visit. Still, you cannot escape the flies in this area, so it holds for all hotels.
We stayed in the deluxe family suite, which was very large, comfortable and nicely decorated. It also has it's own Hottub. Edy helped us booking a guide for the sunrise vulcano tour. He is quick with his answers via the Booking-app or WhatsApp. Thanks Edy.

This is by far one of the nicest places I've ever stayed for the price range. The hot pool was amazing, the room and grounds were gorgeous, the staff was exceptional and helpful. I have rheumatoid arthritis and my hands swelled up while I was there along with my knee, they brought me ice. They drove me around and helped me literally walk. I felt so safe and comforted while I was there! THE BED AND SHEETS WERE AMAZING, FELT LIKE IWAS SLEEPING ON A CLOUD!

United KingdomThere are a lot of flies in the entire area which can be annoying but it's not unmanageable, and certainly not a "swarm" like other reviews have claimed.
Would definitely recommend this to anyone coming to the area. The rooms are done to an excellent standard, and the hot spring pools are great. All the staff were super helpful and friendly and Eddy helped us organise our whole stay, including a jeep tour with his son which was very good. There are plenty of places to eat within 5 mins walk and the breakfast is tasty for 60K.

AustraliaThe whole stay was excellent. Eddy and his team were superb, and the morning breakfast was simple yet fantastic. I loved having my own private hot spring with incredible views of the caldera walls. I also highly recommend the sunrise tour up Mt Batur. Eddy will organise everything for you if you ask him.

AustriaClean, comfortable bed, nice interior. Hot Spring Pools are very enjoyable, especially when the outside temperatures are low. Staff was encouraged to make the best out of the stay. Batur hike was well managed by the local staff.

SingaporeStayed here to hike up Mt Batur. We underestimated our fitness level for the hike.
Lovely villas and beautifully manicured garden It’s so nice to enjoy hot springs in cold weather and to watch the sunrise over the mountain from. There’s a cafe and 3 convenience stores as well as some local warungs just outside the property which made it the perfect location. All around the area in Kintamani has flies, but it didn’t feel as much at Lava Bali Villa Pak Edy was so helpful to make this such a lovely stay

IndonesiaThe road to the villa is very narrow, even though it is very close to the highway. The parking lot is also very small.
The room is simple yet very cozy and clean. The staff is really nice. The hot spring was warm. We would love to come back again when there's a trail event. There's a pantry, dispenser, stove, and dining area we can use freely for cooking since there's no restaurant or food delivery around the villa.

SwitzerlandThis has nothing to do with the hotel itself which was perfect, but overall there’s not much to do in this area and its very difficult to find a taxi to explore so I would not particularly recommend staying there overnight. Would rather recommend staying in Ubud and doing a day trip to mount Batur.
VERY nice hotel : hot springs pool, personal jacuzzi in front of the room (the hot water is so nice because it gets chilly at night!!), the room is very nicely decorated, huge bed very confortable, calm, good location.

Villas were clean and the overall ambience is fantastic. Lovely cool weather. Nice soak in the hot spring pool. Very private. Edy was very helpful throughout our stay. BelgiumThe only bad thing are the black flies. So so so many 😕
Komang is a wonderful host and guide! He is very friendly and responsive and we asked him to be our guide up Mt Batur, it was perfect! He found us a quiet spot away from the crowds and gave us a nice breakfast for a very fair price! The rooms on the property are very clean and spacious, we loved it!

United StatesCommunication was difficult because staff did not speak English The breakfast we paid for at the villa was not good - some tasteless bread, a little bit of fruit, bad instant coffee. When we went to enjoy the pool, thee were 4 people in it that were not guests of the villa which was a bit odd. The flies made it impossible to stay outside (not the hotel's fault)
The rooms were nice and comfortable The hot spring pool was great Good-sized bathrooms

PakistanFrom the location to the town, to the hot spring, to it's management and the services they arranged for us during the stay everything was spot on. Just note nearby resturants close by 9ish, some by 10ish, so must be prepared. The owner was super sweet, he dropped us back to Ubud, because all taxis were unavailable due to the local festival. We loved his recommendations on the nearby temples and the route taken. He also arranged a lava site jeep adventure for us with a beautiful sunrise experience. He also took us to a coffee plantation nearby. We loved the vibe of this place, such a relaxing getaway.

United StatesOnly complaint is more for the general area; the black flies are INTENSE. It’s a constant SWARM of them, not sure of that can be mitigated at all.
Spectacular new property in the Mt. Batur area. It was spotlessly clean, and the layout was very comfortable. The onsite geothermal powered hot tub was a particularly nice feature. Spent a lot of time in it! The property manager was very communicative, and helpful in arranging excursions and rides. Would absolutely stay again!
