I understand that the resort had been closed for 4 years; it was not ready to open yet.

The electric socket (one only) was insufficient and was right above the middle of the bed. There was another in the bathroom but it was broken and even if it worked, I would not used a broken socket. If I needed a bedside light, then anything being charged had to be removed. The bed light was very, very dim. The towel supplied looked very old and ragged. I had to ask for a cushion for the poolside loungers, but although supplied it was not put out again or offered. Snorkelling gear can be supplied but a bit on the expensive side at IDR50,000 a day for fins only. There was no kettle in the room. Taxi charges was way too much compared to taxis in Denpasar, Sanur, Ulan Danu and others, by about IDR 200,000 so this did not leave me with a good impression.

Location is really nice, with lovely sea views and diving facilities. My room was spacious with en-suite shower facilities and a verandah. Bed and pillows were comfortable and the aircon worked satisfactorily. Snorkelling and diving entry/exit to the sea is a little difficult but due to the big stony beach, not the resort. The pool is really nice as are the showering and rinsing facilities outside. It is easy to reach the shops in the village.

It's not a big deal, but the rooms could do with more electric sockets. Also, payment for the room and restaurant are separate. Again, it's not a big deal, yet it would be simpler to pay for everything together. No credit card payment facilities.

The location is excellent, with the Coral Garden right in front of the hotel. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist. The room, though very basic, was clean and spacious with a wide, comfortable bed and good air-conditioning. The bathroom had hot water, a complimentary soap bar, and a towel. The windows were covered in netting (the bathroom isn't air-conditioned). The room had one socket above the bed where the bed light was situated. So, having a double socket adapter is a good idea. There's no coffee/tea/kettle in the room. However, the restaurant is open from 7am till late. The restaurant is right on the seafront, serving good traditional indonisain food. The pool is also near the beach and is clean and a good size. The hotel is geared for scuba divers, and as it has just reopened after being shut for four years, the hotel is planning to renovate all the current facilities for scuba diving. It is the oldest hotel in Tulamben, and it has charm & character a great potential. N.B. make sure you have enough cash to pay for your stay as the only local ATM limits withdrawal to 2,500,000.

All the equipment was old. Very old! I knew there was no air conditioning but with the fan it was storm or nothing. Also it could not be adjusted but turned wildly all the time. The bathroom seemed to have been "cleaned" with the shower head shortly before my arrival. There is no bum gun. The door does not close flush, so all the caterpillars were travelling around the room. The door to the bathroom was covered with rotten aluminium foil. There was a single power socket, not even near the bed.

Directly on the beach. Kind owners.
