Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

The property was in a beautiful setting that was offset from the busy road through Ubud, so traffic noise was not an issue. The staff were amazing and very accommodating, rooms were extremely clean and well kept and the breakfast started everyday off perfectly. Nothing bad to write about this place at all! 10/10

New ZealandRelaxing and quiet location a short walk from main Ubud street, which was very busy. The bungalows are off the main north to south road but as you walk into the compound and through the gardens you walk away ftom the traffic noise and towards the countryside behind. We could hear a river and bird noises, very tranquil. Pretty gardens, a good pool with sun loungers. The staff are great, very friendly and helpful and speak good English so easy to communicate. The breakfast choices excellent and the night before we chose our breakfast time and dishes. We enjoyed the mixed juices and fruit selection followed by either Eggs Benedict or mushroom omelet. The rooms are spacious with a large balcony with furniture and view over the trees and plants behind. A bonus was having a pure water container on tap in our room so we didn't have to keep walking to shops to buy large bottles of drinking water. We filled our glasses and drinking bottles in the room, very convenient and helps reduce plastic waste, a nice touch, the only accommodation on our trip that did this out of 4 accommodations. The staff helped us with local information and booked us a local guide who was very experienced and spoke fluent English. We enjoyed a day touring different villages, Mt Agung, waterfalls and the holy water temple. We packed in lots in an 8 hour tour and leant about Balinese culture.

RomaniaVery nice villas with a stunning garden, full of gorgeous plants. Quiet but still in a good location, close to Ubud center, with plenty of shops and restaurants close to the accommodation. Very clean and well maintained rooms, with a beautiful view to the jungle from the terrace. Nice pool area, very good breakfast and really kind and friendly staff.

CroatiaOnly 2 things - the towels seem to have issues with quality or age. Since the first time you use them they get an old and stale smell even if they had a nice smell in the first place. Also, you can order lunch and dinner too but we felt that the wait is quite long, probably because you are the only people in the restaurant at that time and it takes a while to start up the process.
We stayed in Gunung Merta for 6 nights in Sep 2024. All in all, we loved our stay, it felt like home, the staff were the friendliest ever, jungle view during breakfast is amazing, pool is clean and nice... We loved that the place becomes something completely different than the rest of the hectic city the moment you go through the main gate. Also, laundry service is good and cheap, they have a in-house spa so you can book a massage after you try the free 15 minute foot massage as a hotel guest. Regarding the location, you are within walking distance to the city centre, some eateries and supermarkets. However, due to Ubud traffic dont expect to get anywhere fast. Highly recommend Gunung Merta if you want to stay in Ubud centre.

AustraliaWhat an amazing place to stay! A little oasis away from the hustle and bustle of Ubud. The staff was so very helpful and kind and really made our stay even more enjoyable. Things to like: - compound is super quiet with lush greenery and a koi pond. - huge pool with the options of both sun and shade - great breakfast with wide variety of options - large light filled rooms that look out onto lush forest with the sound of a creek running - little touches like insect repellant, ear plugs (didn't need either) - powerful shower and body loofah - filtered water in room - affordable bar fridge - massage on site if you would like a massage

United KingdomOur room was damp and had black mould growing in various different areas. We notified staff who were able to move us rooms but only after our second night out of 4. The fact that the hotel was allowing guests to stay in the room with this mould was inconsiderate to our health. I have asthma and j woke up in the mornings wheezing and having difficulty breathing. The hotel also offered us a free massage as an apology which was a welcome gesture, but this did not fix the fact that this issue happened in the first place. The hotel is closing in November for a month to carry out major works to fix the damp issue so it should be sorted soon, but we paid too much for this hotel considering the issue and lack of comfort.
Staff really friendly. Peaceful setting with nice garden, pond and pool. Location was good, short 10-15 minutes walk to the centre, and close to a few restaurants and supermarkets. The rooms were fairly well cleaned and looked out on a nice jungle view with balcony.

NetherlandsThe towels were slightly smelly. The shower could be a little more clean.
Very homey. Amazing friendly staff that makes an effort to learn your name and to make your stay memorable. Many breakfast choices, good food. Rooms with earbuds, mosquito repellent and mini bar. Located in the centre but very quiet and peaceful because of the garden. Nice view. Loved the kittens ❤️

AustraliaMy partner thought he could smell a mouldy smell coming from the bathroom however I didn't notice it and he said it was find as long as we kept the bathroom door closed. There isn't enough pool chairs for all guests if they want to all sit by the pool at the same time (however this never was an issue on our trip)
The rooms are at the rear of a family compound which is beautifully landscaped and neat and tidy full of lovely smiley faces to great you. The staff greeted us with a welcome drink and check in was smooth and easy. Our room was clean and tidy and had a lovely balcony overlooking a greenery. It was very peaceful and tidy. The location is good just outside the hustle and bustle but still walking distance from Ubud city centre. However we rented a scooter just for ease and were able to park in the garage at the accomodation. There is a supermarket and bank across the road which is convenient. The staff were lovely always welcoming us home after each day. They were accommodating and informative and I am still wearing my Balinese string bracelet gift now.

NetherlandsThe curtains do not black out, lot’s of light shines through in the morning. Also there’s mold on a particular side of the wall near the door. This needs fixing as mold can be harmful for people.
The location is great. 10 minutes walking from restaurants and shops. Although the property is situated at a very busy, congested main road, you’d have to walk through a garden and a patio to reach the bungalows where it is very quiet and peaceful (no noise). The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable. I liked that there were many shelves and places to store your belongings. The pool area and garden is very nice! Staff is very friendly.

PortugalLet's not be naive, as expected, there are some mosquitos and bugs walking in.
Considering the standard in Indonesia this accommodation is a 10! It has very comfortable and clean facilities. The breakfast is incredible in variety and quality, the staff is very kind and efficient, the pool was nice, had pool chairs and towels available. There is also spa and laundry services available and very good. The accommodation is not that centered (15min walking from Ubud Palace) but you have a supermarket and coffees just on the other side of the road while at the same time you feel that, when you cross the doors to enter this place, you are in the middle of nature.

Germany**Review: A Hidden Gem in the Heart of the City** Nestled quietly amidst the hustle and bustle of the city, this hotel is a true oasis for those seeking a tranquil escape. The breakfast here is simply the best we've ever had, with a rich menu to choose from every day. Every single member of the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, always ready to go the extra mile to ensure our comfort. The pool is also a lovely feature, perfect for a relaxing day when you just want to stay in. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat in the city center!

United StatesThe staff were so gracious and family so hospitable who reside onsite. Vinna was so lovely to us and the food was amazing. Each morning delivered to us to enjoy on back patio with the jungle surrounding us. No city sounds. No bug problems in room. Very safe. Perfect location. Super market and cafe across the street. Paid $116 for 3.5 hrs of transportation to and from port and airport and breakfast for 3 people for 5 mornings and laundry. Wow! The grounds and vibe were amazing.
