Close to everything for a short stay. Lovely gardens. Big rooms. When the shower didn’t work in one room they changed us to another room. There was a spa on site for massages etc.

On my last day, I found that my pillow inside the pillow case had black mould. The room was very dark. Somehow my room always felt damp. The bathroom was indoor/outdoor, and the door didn't close properly. The room had small decorative holes in the brickwork, making it impossible to fully close the doors and windows thereby reducing the effectiveness of the air con and allowing in insects. The coffee/tea was not replenished during my week-long stay. Pool had missing tiles with sharp edges. The included breakfast was great, but only available after 8:30am.

Big room, great location. Included breakfast at the nearby restaurant was excellent. Pretty pool area.

Our unit needs a new AC unit. It works but very noisy. Some noise from the road, septic smell in front of complex and a bit in our bathroom. One of the veranda doors couldn't open which was very silly.

We stayed in the veranda sweet closest to the road. Great lighting, lots of windows, has a spa attached-basic but good, wrap around porch is great, big and open space, amazing desk in front of a mirror. Overall perfect for our needs to spread out and work at the same time with my partner. I never made it to the pool area. Great location too

The property is in need of renovation. The water pressure/showers didn’t work in many of the rooms, a/c unit was dated in our room and the downstairs bedrooms smell musty - they need to be aired daily and some method of ensuring they don’t smell musty. Also no house keeping- we were there 5 days and had no cleaning or bed sheets/towel changes. This doesn’t need to be changed every day but cleaning should be daily. And water provided.

The property has a rustic charm with a lovely garden feel tucked away from the main area. It’s very conveniently located in a great area. Upstairs bedrooms are comfortable, light and airy. Nice pool area near front of property.

Staff were not cleaning the room or Villa, and even when requested still did not always action. It wasn’t clear if kitchen and bathrooms would be cleaned daily. I emailed the manager via booking.com and did not respond to my messages, particularly when had to inform I was arriving a day late. They lost our villa that we booked, although replaced with equivalent. There should be a different number on the site to be able to speak to someone direct, since is a landline that joins answers There is no direct line to staff working on the actual premises if needed to get directions etc.

In general I think the place needs a bit of a refresh. The AC unit in our bungalow rattled loudly on occasion and one of the windows didn’t stay closed. There were also lot of ants around the room. A key ring for the room key would be great as it’s a small key and easy to loose

I love Gajah Biru. 3rd time I’ve stayed here. The staff are lovely, the bungalows are spacious with great terraces to chill out on and a great pool. Can’t fault them for value for money. The spa does the best massage in Ubud and the shop opposite does everything you could ever need from laundry to motorbike hire. It’s close to lots of great places but far enough out of the town centre to feel chill.

The big Bungalow is quite far from the small ones. We booked 2 bungalows as we were a big family group but the distance between the 2 bunglows was a big inconvenience. You have to walk down street and take another street. This was not mentioned while booking.

I liked all of it. Penestanan is more expensive than say, Nyuh Kuning, where motorbike hire, for example is half the price.

Comfortable, Stylish, lovely helpful staff. A low key hide away.

The shower head was leaking and dripping. It was pretty loud and we even put a towel under it on the ground to quiet the noise. The AC was moldy and was stinking when it was on, we decided to open the doors instead to keep a cool breeze in the room. The space itself was lovely, but need some renovation. The tiles in the kitchen bench was broken and falling out.

Great location, a lot of space and quiet.

Situated just outside the city centre , the location was perfect! We booked the veranda room, and everything was amazing! Gidi was super helpful and helped us with all our questions and inquiries. Special thanks to the staff member who collected our helmets and put them in a safe place as we forgot them on our scooter overnight! Will definitely be back!

I booked for 4 nights but left after 2, even without a refund for the remaining nights as it was not at all worth staying. Very unclean (floors were FILTHY, walking barefoot in the room left my feet black). The private villa was not at all private and on a number of occasions I found guests who were staying in other villas had let themselves in to sit in the garden and swim in the pool. There was no lock on the gate and the doors to the rooms also had very flimsy locks. I felt very unsafe there. The furniture in the garden was falling apart and wasn’t comfortable to sit on. The upstairs room had no hot water and the shower wouldn’t work at all if someone downstairs was using their bathroom. The airconditioning only had two settings - off or arctic blast - so could not get comfortable through the hot nights. Overall this place was dingy and creepy, and did not look like the photos. I was so glad I had a friend with me because at night it was very eerie. The booking.com listing said it included airport transfers, but when I contacted the villa to make the arrangement, I was told it was an extra charge. Dont stay here unless you are completely out of other options.

I stayed in the Jasmine suites which had a semi-private pool. The pool was an interesting shape with cool elephant fountains flowing into it. I say it was ‘semi-private’ because despite being sold as a private pool several times I found people had let themselves in to the garden to swim. Even first thing in the morning. The bed was okay, reasonably comfortable, but basic.
