Can’t fault it, Castaway was perfect! Comfortable, lovely staff, access to the pool right outside your door. Cooked breakfast included with a lovely coffee shop 2 minutes away. The host Dewa was accommodating, prompt at messaging and also recommending some of his local knowledge. We will definitely be back! Thanks!!

If you don’t want to use the mini bar and put your own things in fridge, there was no room left in fridge to do so.

The rooms were spacious and the decor was nice and beds comfortable. The gated entrance in the evening made us feel secure.

The room was a little noisy at night due to a neighboring bar playing music. Although not intolerable, it was a little annoying.

Lack of bug spray as the bugs are really bad.

Mosquitos were a bit of a challenge as the indoor outdoor living space allowed for them to get inside. Bedrooms are well protected if doors are kept closed and doors to the exterior closed at dusk. Otherwise can not fault this beautiful place

The staff are incredibly accommodating, helpful and accessible. Always had a smile on their faces and made our holiday very special and enjoyable! The private villa was perfect for our family and so beautifully maintained. Beds were comfortable and the space was perfect for our family of four. Easily would accommodate more comfortably.

The restaurant across the street had live music which ended about 10pm- so it was a bit noisy. Access to a little kitchenette would have been helpful.

The staff at Castaway are welcoming, helpful and friendly. The staff helped us to organise our day trips. We did a fabulous boat trip to to swim with the Manta Rays and turtles. The location is fantastic- great coffee shops, massage, and beach is a lovely walk. Mushroom bay is the best place to stay on the island. Breakfast was lovely. Communication with Dewa prior to our arrival was also excellent. He was very helpful.

Loud music each night impacted our room

The property is beautiful, well maintained and the staff are exceptional, attentive, kind and helpful. We will absolutely be back one day either to stay in the private villa or come with friends. If you’re travelling with a group of friends or families, the small rooms off the pool is such a great option! Unfortunately, we shortened our stay as the noise from live music impacts the small villas that back onto the road. We love live music, so it’s a great little vibe, it just wasn’t ideal for our family and we had the room that was most impacted. It does end by 10-11. Weirdly enough, it’s louder in the room than outside! However this would not have bothered us if we weren’t a young family who rely on ourselves / kids sleeping at a reasonable hour and we really wanted to be rested. The staff were so understanding and offered to refund the nights we didn’t stay despite their clear non-refundable cancellation policy. This was so incredibly appreciated and testament to the character of people who manage Castaway.

Resort is close to a restaurant that does live music every night which will keep you awake when you go to bed before 11pm. Resort is very small so other guests could make or break your stay

You’re not paying for a 5 star resort on the Bali mainland so something like the bathroom was a bit dated but still very functional and fine to use.

Was a great family place to stay. Close to everything and in my opinion the best beach for swimming on the island. Staff were excellent!

Unfortunately it was a little more run down than the Instagram photos show. It was also due a deep clean. Things like dust under the bed and the bathrooms needed a good scrub. In one of the villa bathrooms, the toilet seat was falling off. Unfortunately the aircon struggled in the heat, although it was still a relief from the humidity. The music across the road was loud, but as we were up until 10pm anyway it didn’t bother us and our 2 year old slept through it. One thing that definitely needs rectifying immediately would be the missing and chipped tiles in the pool. My husband managed to cut himself multiple times in the pool, which was disappointing.

We stayed at Castaway for 10 days, and we were very comfortable. The location is perfect in Mushroom Bay, and we had everything we needed. The staff at Castaway are amazing and friendly, and were very considerate of us. The breakfast was great, and although there was no coffee facilities, we were a short walk from Mushroom coffee - the best coffee on Nusa. The beds were so comfy and the pillows were great! Every evening our room was sprayed for mosquitoes too, which I thought was a very considerate touch. The pool was lovely, and the hammock, day beds and sun loungers were the perfect spots to soak up some sun and have a nap! We would stay again

The male manager was quite rude and unfriendly as was one of the female staff members. They made you feel like you were inconveniencing them every time you wanted to order a drink or food. Very unwelcoming which is rare in Bali

A bit of a mix up with the payment as we thought it was going to be taken out of our account before we arrived as stated in our booking confirmation, instead, we had to pay directly to the hotel when we were checking out, so I think Booking.com gave us incorrect information and we could have been advised by Castaway when we checked in this was the requirement.

The place was great but there was loud music across from the hotel that kept me awake. (We are early risers) so it was quite frustrating when we were trying to sleep so something to keep in mind if you’re not someone that likes late nights.
