Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

ItalyI find it hard to believe that this can be considered a 4 stars hotel honestly. The rooms are very basic, not very nice, and all the furniture is very old. The common areas are not well maintained, like the “terrace” where instead of a garden there’s a forest. 😂
Quite central, it was really easy moving from there to the most important places to visit, metro is just around the corner and there are many buses. There’s a supermarket just outside the hotel. The breakfast was varied, with many options available. The price was more than honest for 2 nights with breakfast included and cheaper than other hotels. The staff was very kind

The location was just what we needed...close to the train station. The neighborhood was full of life. The breakfast was outstanding! Front desk staff was helpful and polite.

New ZealandThe only improvement we would suggest is to have a kettle and option to make teas and coffees in the room. However reception did offer a kettle for our stay when we asked for hot water to make a drink.
The hotel and rooms were warm and comfortable. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Several different eating places were nearby and also a supermarket right across the road.

IrelandWe stayed in a double room, and while I understand that two single beds are sometimes joined together, these beds were noticeably uneven in height, making it uncomfortable to sleep. Given that we only stayed one night, arrived late, and the poor receptionist was already dealing with a serious leak that flooded the hallway and entrance to our room, we chose not to raise the issue at the time.
The location is excellent, the breakfast offers a wide variety of options, and the staff were all friendly and helpful.

SlovakiaHairdryer in the room was making weird noise and it was burning from inside. Its very unsafe to keep such devices in the room. It could easily cause fire. I dont understand how such visible item wasnt checked prior checkin. Of course the receptionist provided me with a portable hairdryer right away.
