Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe castle hill can be a little steep but there is a bus (16) that seems to run every five minutes that drops you just around the corner from the hotel.
Tucked away in a quiet street inside the castle walls. After a day of rushing around the sights this was a welcome oasis of calm.

Uniqueness of the rooms. There was a nice atmosphere in the hotel, relaxed and the staff were friendly. Great breakfast.

GermanyI very much enjoyed my stay at Baltazár Hotel. I was given an upgrade on the room for free, which was very nice. The room itself was clean, the bed was comfortable and it even had a balcony. The food for breakfast was good and the staff was very friendly. The hotel is located in a beautiful area and close to many sights. I would definitely recommend it.

United KingdomWould have been useful to know that there was a direct bus from the train station to where the hotel was, so lugging heavy cases up the various steps to get there. But a minor inconvenience.
Very friendly host greeted us, both rooms were set up as doubles, when we requested one twin, one double, but htye remedied this very quickly. Hotel is in a good location next to the Fisherman's Bastion (Halászbástya) and Buda tower. They gave us guidance how to travel on the buses as well after we go there. The hotel is also near to other restaurants also. With the weather being so hot as well, it was good to have air conditioning in the hotel as well. We had breakfast at the hotel and the selection was very good.

United StatesIt was an enchanting boutique hotel away from the tourist crowd. We loved it!! The Baltazar Team, Ben, Daniel, Peter, Lucy and their colleagues, were outstanding in every way making our stay magical! The food was fabulous - Michelin star quality - the service impeccable! The hotel is within walking distance of all the Castle District attractions. Budapest was the highlight of our visit to six European capitols. Our thanks and gratitude to the all the Baltazar Team.

IsraelI couldn't figure out the TV or the sound system in the room. By the time I realized this there was noone at reception (the hotel has no night staff). I think having some English language channels on offer and maybe a word or two of explanation and show-and-tell when checking in would be helpful. I tried to stream from my phone to the screen but also - all instructions were in Hungarian so it was an exercise in frustration. There was no cable or netflix on offer. With no book and no way to watch TV the evenings after 22:00 where a bit dull - but the bath was great and I slept alot.
The location was very quiet and historic. The building interior was modern, warm and comfortable. I loved having a rich breakfast at the cafe outdoors every morning. I had the power breakfast option and there was plenty to choose from. Andras was exceptionally friendly and very helpful, and the other staff were equally professional and personable. The room was above and beyond. The bed was firm and cushions very comfortable. The room had light blocking curtains so you could enjoy daylight and views all around during the day and sleep well at night. There was easy elavator access though I took the stairs. There was a fridge, safe, coffeemaker and hairdryer in the room but no iron. The Bus was easily accessible and frequent but definitely get the pass because the hotel is far from the busy hustle of Pest and walking to and from it can be a bit tiring as its mostly uphill and on cobblestones. Take bus 16 from Deak Ter M. Its the same intersection where bus 100 to and from the airport stops. Its not far from the M2 metro either. In the evening I gravitated away from busy Pest so I tried 3 restaurants in the chain that Balthazar is part of, all in Buda - Balthazar, 21 and Pest-Buda and felt I got excellent service and good food. It felt like I was being taken care of, in a way, by a local. It made the choices easier for someone travelling solo. One last suggestion: abandon the comfort of your room one morning to watch the sunrise at Fisherman's Bastion. This is definitely a perk of being up on the quiet side of Buda. The streets here are always quite and feel perfectly safe. I will gladly come again.

United KingdomThe bar is closed by 10pm so if you’re seeking a late night you’ll either have to stay down in Pest or pop around to the one in the Hilton hotel and which is open to non-residents.
Great little family run hotel in a quiet part of Buda up behind the Fisherman’s Bastion and handy for the 16 bus into Pest. Excellent staff, who are polite, keen to serve and speak English well. Great breakfast that sets you up for the day and a good choice of meals for lunch & dinner too.

Kenyawhile we loved the location, some people may not like it as its very quiet and away from restaurants/clubs of Pest side. you will have to go across the river to the other side for more lively scene. this is very much a personal choice.
large room with a huge balcony on the top floor, huge bathroom with two sinks, friendly staff. the manager even waived off the charge for alcohol we consumed from the bar. very secluded and quiet location on the Buda Castle hill and yet its only 5 mins from Fisheman's Bastion. there is a bus stop right outside the hotel and can take you to the Pest side.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left the BALTAZÁR team were exemplary. The food we had in the hotel was top class and the team were always very attentive. I do not usually leave reviews for places that i have stayed, but the BALTAZÁR Boutique Hotel, Dániel and the team were up with the best. Thank you and we would definitely stay again.
