Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

EstoniaThe stairs were worth the priceless view. But the taxis were a bit hard to catch (we used bolt). Be ready to pay in cash!
We liked that it has an amazing panoramic view and is very private. It was a bit tireing that the property was literally on top of the hill, so we definitely recommend always taking taxi or bus or when you feel like it- going constantly up and down the 600 stairs (we counted).

GermanyThe hot water doesn't last long, so two people showering after another is hardly possible.
The view was just excellent, very beautiful! Everything was clean and in order. Check-in worked fine. We would come back.

FranceThe location has a great view because it is on the top of Dubrovnik port. To Access the old city (Pile) you either walk Up and down or use Bus 3 (pass every 15-20min). For sporty people, no problem, but if you are not, then reconsider.
The host was very welcoming. Merica help us when our flight got delayed and organized for us a late pickup in the airport. The room was very clean and comfortable, silent. This is a good value place to stay, just keep in mind that you will have to go up and down stairs or depend on bus 3 to go to the old town. For us it was great and the stay was wonderful. Thank you Merica!

HungaryThe toilet door was a bit diffcult to close, but everything else was fine. Shops and the ports are close but the way to there is full of stairs and its a stiff climb. So get ready to work out :D
Wonderful view, climate, comfortable bed. Bus station is very close. Nights are quiet. We had really good time.

PortugalPretty decent room, though terrible host, regret having booked it. The room is considerably far from Dubrovnik's old town and the road you have to walk from the bus stop is extremely dangerous, but these are actually details when compared to the rudeness of the host. Only place in Croatia which we really recommend not to stay. Please do read host replies to guests' comments when they tell her some truths and you will taste a bit of what you will get when there (hope I have done it!).

GermanyThe water temperature in the shower would become cold within 1 minute of use.
There's a bus stop near the house that can get you to the old city. The room has a great view.

Costa RicaThey staff was the worse. to start, the lady enter to our room without knocking the door, and I was naked, she only knocked once and then open the door even though I asked her to wait. Besides this, there is no shampoo in the bathroom and no hot water, I called the lady when I was in town to request her to put shampoo and fix the hot water so that we could get a hot shower after a tired day, and the lady said she would put just soap and that we were the ones who turned off the hot water before, and that she would turn it on, when I went to the room again, the soap she put was hands soap only, and the hot water worked only for 1 minute, same than in the morning. I sent her a message saying that the hot water was not working again, and that we were not the ones who turned it off because we didn’t even know where to turn it on or off, and she replied only asking the time we were going to do the check out, she didn’t say anything about the hot water issue. Also, there is no cleaning room service. The lady seems to only care about the payment and that’s it, they have cero customer service!
The only good thing about this place is the view.

United KingdomThe shower leaked a bit on the side. It was a bit inconvenient but it did dried out everyday and the place was very clean so it didn't bother us too much.
The view was beyond my imagination. I have seen the photos before travelling but my mind was blown when I saw it in real life at the balcony. I went to bed late and woke up early for the view. I was so sad when I had to check out. The location is on the port side of Dubrovnik and on the high up of the hill. We took ubers when we have heavy suitcases(uber is very good price and very easy to get) but we actually enjoyed the walk to the port and the old towns. There were views all the way and we enjoyed to see all different sides of Dubrovnik. Merica gave very helpful suggestions in terms of beaches, food, sailing boat trips......etc. There is fridge so we can actually buy things from the market and enjoy at the balcony with the exceptional view.

AustraliaIt was extremely difficult to get in contact with the owners and this subsequently left us stranded in the middle of the night (10pm) for one hour, mind you we had just gotten off the plane and already exhausted. The property was near impossible to find as there were no clear signage of the Airbnb. After calling another Airbnb nearby, he was able to eventually help us locate the owner and even then he had some trouble.
Beautiful view from the balcony and cleanliness
