Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Lebanon- The place must be decluttered - The manager was not nice to me. It felt weird for him to randomly come to the room and scold me for doing something out of my control. regardless of the situation, hospitality is key in this business. - Not your typical hostel
- The hostel is only walking distance to the center. - I enjoyed talking to Bruno! - AC was very good

SlovakiaYou occasionally have to wait for a free bathroom. But hey, who gives a damn.
If you're considering this place, expect a bit of punk. If you're looking for a sterile, fancy looking generic accomodation, look elsewhere. If you're OK with a bit of punk, you're going to love it here. Your chances of meeting some nice people here are pretty high. Staff is great, especially JJ. And the cats. I'm a dog person, but I loved the cats anyway. You won't regret coming here.

BelgiumThe bathroom is very small so you'll probably be a bit cramped brushing your teeth in the morning.
It's a decent hostel with big rooms which means you'll probably be waken up by other guests coming through but that's to be expected of a dorm room. There is a locker with a key where you can leave your belongings. The rooms are decently clean. However it's not possible to close the curtains so you'll probably be woken up by the light. For women there's only one toilet, 2 showers and one small sink. There's a small kitchenette, a fridge with some free food that has been left behind by other guests. The cats are very adorable and social. There was also a nice atmosphere where we often played games in the evening with other guests and some employees. There is a small bakery one street down. Stores and the city center is very close.

United KingdomThe ‘kitchen’ and toilet are very cramped, and there is only one toilet for all the women staying there (not sure about the men’s bathroom) but it made it a bit tricky if multiple people needed to go at once. The shower situation also isn’t great as there’s no locks for the shower and nowhere secure to put your things whilst you shower, like your clothes and towel etc. There was also a power cut which lasted a decent amount of time which meant aircon wasn’t working inside, so everyone was just sat outside in the 30+ degree heat getting bitten by the mosquitos (this wasn’t the hostels fault at all and was resolved the same day so not their fault). The fuse also broke on the stove whilst cooking but this wasn’t listened to by staff for a while and was told ‘it isn’t broken’ when in fact, it was broken all along and we weren’t originally listen too, which was a bit frustrating. And we were told not to lock or even properly close the doors in our room, which was a bit weird (i know this is due to a recent incident which has broken the doors so again not fully the hostels fault, but i do feel this does need to be fixed. As the doors didn’t shut without locking, i was sleeping with the light from the hallway shining onto me and it wasn’t the best) . But overall it isn’t bad at all and would stay again, it was a great price and we didn’t have a bad experience, just things to take into consideration if you are planning to stay here.
We adored the cats, the beds were comfortable, we made lots of great relationships with the other residents and overall had a pleasant time at the hostel. We didn’t feel too uncomfortable at all, the hostel had a nice chill vibe and i got a good night sleep there.

SpainIf you want to follow your circadian rhythm, is not the place to be. Looks very hippie, but hippie things are not allowed in there. And I did not like the idea to share with all men.
I did like the staff and the location of the property. Very close to center, supermarkets, even walks in nature. To me, wherever there are cats, is a good sign.

United KingdomThis is a party planners hostel for boat trips. If that's not your thing stay somewhere else. Kitchen is basically a shelf. Location is incredibly difficult to find, no signage, I arrived late at night and was lost.

United StatesKitchen facilities are almost non-existent. Don't plan on cooking a meal here.
Outlanders is a very good hostel with congenial guests and a sparse volunteer staff. The price was exceptional, 11€ in early April. The layout is a little cramped and the only indoor common area shares a small room with the reception desk. The long narrow porch offers outdoor seating. There is an ample guest refrigerator but no way to cook. Dormitory is quiet, beds are comfortable and have accessible light and electricity. A Lidl supermarket is 7 minutes away on foot and the edge of the large Marjan Forest Park is about the same. Neighborhood street parking is quite easy but the municipal bus terminal is a substantial 23 minute walk. Cats are ever present (the dormitory door has a sign "Keep cats out during the night"), which some travelers will see as positive, others negative.

Czech RepublicThe only problematic thing I realized is that there are only 2 toilets/ bathrooms (one for women and one for men), so it is possible, that you will wait in line for using it.
I actually chosen this hostel, because from the reviews it seemed that it has really special vibes. And yes, it is a little bit "punk" style hostel. It is also a budget accomodation and it looks like that. However, the hostel has really, really unique spirit, so if you want to see something other than unificated tourist industry, definitely don't be afraid of somehow lower ratings on Booking. The hostel is located in pleasant and practical part of Split (few minutes from the old town, but not directly there, so you can feel "normal" Croatian everyday life). It has beautifuly arranged kind of terrace and a small but nice social room. The kitchen is equipped with all dishes, so you can prepare some meals by your own. Dorms are a little bit dark, but it is enough, if you want just to sleep there :) Hostel staff is really friendly and helpful! They offer some interesting city activities as well (as a historical city tour or a cooking workshop), which I have not experienced, but it sounds great. Another nice thing is quite late check-out time - fine both for early birds (you can wake up in the morning and enjoy the city a bit before you leave) and sleepers (you can rest without any stress). Oh, and the most important thing! There are cute cats living in the hostel. Lot of cats. However, keep calm: you almost don't see any hair nor other "stuff" related to the kitties, so you can just enjoy their company in common room and terrace.
