Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

IndiaThe Hostel has merely 4 rooms (double + single) having adequate facilities for washroom. It has two common lavatories (one male and one female) along with one additional common bathroom. The rooms are very clean with all the amenities required for solo travellers or families. The caretaker is very friendly and always ready to help you. The location is well connected with all the bus facilities along with some restaurants and supermarket (Konzum) nearby. The TOP quality is the reasonable price of the Hostel. There is a small common kitchen area where you can prepare and have coffee and tea. All the necessary items (coffee, tea, sugar) are provided free of cost by the hostel.

NetherlandsNot enough outlets for 4 people. Only one shower and toilet per sex and there were around 5 rooms. But we did not experience a lot of troubles sharing it. When people talk in the common room, you can hear it but it was quiet during the night. We stayed for less then 24 hours

The owner is the coolest and nicest guy I know. The location is perfect considering its close to the center. Rooms were so clean and had AC, also big windows, so it’s perfect for summer. It’s also a really quiet neighbourhood and we always felt safe. Surely coming here, once I’m back in Zagreb.

Belgiumit's great. you can't hear noise from the other rooms, it's easy to enter with the passcode in the doors, there's enough bathroom/showers so as to not be crowded, also a fridge. there's a cute table outside you can sit for smoking or for us to have our juice for breakfast when it was sunny. the owner is extra friendly. it's close to the center (4 stops by bus) but not too close so that it's noisy.
