Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

We booked hotel Istra but end up in hotel Neptun. Maybe for the first time ever I didn’t read any reviews, so just when we arrived have realized that Istra in on the right side and Neptun on the left and it’s one facility. Anyway, it was too hot, and we get room on the corner of building so we ask to change room. Then receptionist explain that Neptun is recently renovated and on our request she found room for us. It was such beautiful superior double room with sea view, very spacious, cozy, and we really enjoy it. Didn’t pass so much time inside except for sleep but still. Food in the restaurant was really delicious, luckily, because there are only two restaurants on the island. No shop except souvenirs shop so if you are to cycle or walk to explore island, bear in mind to bring enough big bottles for water, at least 2, after you can refill it with pipe water or you can use boat to buy what you need in Fazana. 1 return ticket daily is included in hotel price. Staff, not only in hotel but everywhere on island is super kind, helpful, and very professional.

CroatiaFood is always poor and nothing has been done about it for years. For a short stay it is ok, you can always choose something to survive, but I cannot imagine staying for more than 3 days on that.

United StatesBreakfast - one of the worst I have ever had (4 and 5-star hotels) and it is the same every year. Keep in mind I spend >100 days in hotels every year around the globe.
Location. We come to Brijuni everyear despite the terrible outdated facilities and generally subpar staff experience.

The food in the hotel is great and everythiny was very clean. And the location of the hotel is perfect, just by the dock, very near the beach and with a great view. We'll come again for sure. 😊

CroatiaAll in all, I believe it is a reasonable price for what you get in return. It is truly a special place and going there is such a wonderful experience. Even the outdated areas give it a special charm!
Well, although the facilities are a bit outdated, the stay at the Istra hotel was quite comfortable and had that nostalgic touch. The location and the islands are stunning per se, so it makes the stay quite memorable and special. The breakfast is ok, but really enjoyed our dinner at the Galija restaurant. The food was good, but the staff was excellent! Big thanks to Franjo there for taking such a good care of us!

SloveniaFor the price food selection was really basic and bad, it was gone immidiately when they brought it. Rooms are old (we had superior room, it still is outdated but this year there is kettle with two cups in room). Prices are high. Golf cart is 200e for one day. We probably wont return next year. Women working in restaurant and housecare are friendly, men not so much.

FranceThe AC might be improved as well as transportation from Fasana to the island (last boat comes back at 22h which seems a bit early). Also, souvenir shop needs improvement - it was not possible to buy Paul Kupelwieser's memoirs, which is very strange given his contribution to the archipel. Finally, certainly parts of the island need to be maintained a bit better and with more vigour - animal conditions (especially safari animals), roads, bicycles, etc.
The hotel has the perfect location providing a maximum privacy and calm that you can get in today's world of massive tourism. Saluga beach is only 10 minutes away by foot and there are not many people there during the day. Even though the hotel looks old, it is very clean and taken care of by the staff. The AC might not work the best in the room, but you get used to it very fast. There are two restaurants, one that serves breakfast and dinner as part of half/full board, and the other one that is à la carte, and that has very kind staff and hight quality food - special compliments go to the staff preparing homemade sweets. Make sure that you visit the permanent exhibition that is in the building next to the hotel Karmen. This exhibition is about Brioni's very particular history, which is essential for understanding the importance of this place. Finally, staying at the hotel on the island gives a unique opportunity to enjoy beautiful nature and observe animals all along your holidays :)

CroatiaNothing to complain about
Personally, the best place in Croatia you can visit. Untouched nature, no cars, not crowded (except around hotel), feels more like Africa then Europe with its big green fields with zebras and peacocks. Golf cars or bikes are a must to explore the island. Round of island is rougly 13km, everyone can find a perfect spot to enjoy. Will be coming next year also.
